"Bring out the beast" Fuck you very much HH
When I first spotted the advertising with the above slogan I knew it was only a matter of time!

    Cam:
I'm looking into going to "stage II" on my M8. Screaming Eagle Torque Vs Power cam? Head mechanic advised to go for a power cam as it is already a torqie engine down low. However looking at a Dyno chart I get a bit of both TQ & power thru the lower to mid range of rpm with the torque cam, yet the power cam kicks in around 4000-4500rpm, I rarely ride above 4500rpm. Any engine mods I do I want them to suit my riding style, not just because they're the latest, greatest or biggest upgrade.

    Cam plate:
I have read here about upgrading cam plates, I have no clue wtf these things do (other than have a bearing journal for one end of the cam shaft). What does upgrading the cam plate do for the engine? Is the need to upgrade CP only for the stage III & IV builds or anything above stage I? Or is the original just poorly designed?

    Oil Pump:
I see oil pump and cam plates generally advertised as a bundle, how do they compliment each other? I can only guess that the cam plate has oil galleries in it that are better than stock and need a better oil pump to suit the better/larger galleries? I maybe way off the mark here but hoping you guys can educate me. I believe the 2018 M8 has a refined oil pump in it to correct earlier problems?

If I install a cam is it advisable to install a new cam plate and oil pump while the engine is opened up? If so what brand or am I just wasting money?

    Thanks in advance

Think you answered your own question on the cam if the SE cams are your only choice, unless you have a sumper the pump and plate will be fine, these M8's respond so well to a cam, decent exhaust and tune.

I'm running a Freedom Performance sharp curve radius exhaust, been told that is my first mistake! Since OP I've been doing a bit of homework trying to understand my options and there are a few out there. Just not sure how they affect warranty, so I'm open to recommendations of any cam that suit the 114 M8. The Zipper's red shift 468, S&S 465C/475C or WOOD WM8-22X are up there with what I've found. Does anyone have any experience with these cams at all?

There is another cam coming, Cycle Rama 480, from the preliminary results out there it is worth looking into, my son in law has the 468 in his 107 lowrider with the same exhaust as you, he used the Tmax as the tuner, he bloody loves it, I've not riden it but I had to use my gearbox to stay with him rounding up road trains.

    * Only tuned the Zippers 468 and the Woods 22x. Both good cams. The 22x works with a wider combo of exhaust/air intakes and makes great torque in the everyday riding range 1500 - 2500rpm. It's piss-easy to dial in. The 468 is less tolerant of different exhausts but makes more HP than the Woods. For heavy tourers ridden two-up the Woods 22x is a great choice. For Softail IIs looking for HP and strong torque 2500 - 4000rpm the Zipper works great. If choosing the 468 do some research on exhaust, you can spend a lot of time trying to find low-end torque with the 468 and it isn't the cams fault, it just doesn't like some pipes, 2-1s mainly.
    *personal opinion only :-)

The redshift cam does well in the testing link I provided above. But have a look at the TTS cams

    Very likable!
Enquiring with CR and Fuel Moto to see if I can get my hands on one. Sheffer used some extra tuning aids to get that tune, wondering if anyone uses a similar setup here, or is that considered over the top?

Thanks for putting me onto it Hilly

No worries Bigfella, I was toying with the idea of getting a 114 and had this cam earmarked for it, backburner now though.
I dunno how the locals tune but Darren's method gets good results going by his charts, I know of a couple of other American tuners that use a similar system, see their charts here and there, they will all say this though, use a proven combination and you will get repeatable results.

Independent Harley Mechanic Melbourne (South East Suburbs)

Found some older outdated threads, rather than start another thread I'll ask here!

Can anyone recommend a good independent harley mechanic in south east suburbs of Melbourne for engine work and tuning.

    Thanks in advance

Eastern Big Twin Performance is a forum sponsor and highly regarded. They also do dyno tuning. They are now located in Packenham which hopefully isn't too far for you especially for a good tune of which there aren't too many options

My 2c its all about torque cams cos i never go much past 4500rpm, but you are right that line is pretty consistent already.
