Don't sell that thing, it looks fucken mint.
The slim will take some work to get it comfy. The stock seat is shit, and only really good if you want to torture your ass. Mustang wide tourer will do the trick, make sure you get the backrest if you do. You'll likely want to add crash bars and highway pegs, but once you've done that and added bags (which you'll probably do), you'll be back at the weight of the Road King or very close to it.

Only reason you'd go to a slim is to get an S for the 110. Otherwise go the heritage with the 114 (Heavy Duty did a recent ride on one and loved it).

Looks a great bike gidgi. A credit to you.
It looks the best of both worlds. Just add and subtract bits depending on the ride.
As sw says. It’s not hard to get the weight up on any other model and you’ve got it all already.

My 2012 Road king has been  my life ,one owner since new so many dollars spent, previous bike was street bob, & fkn luved that too   but am 61 this year & findin it hard to  move it around, am thinking bout sumfin lighter,. love the dynas  but never riden a softail is there much difference  to say a softail slim or deluxe,(comfort wise)  I m sure its lighter was thinkin bout 17 wide glide even, last dyna I think just puttin it out there any way opinions are  individual I know

My next birthday I am 66 years old. Sure my road King is getting heavier, but will stay with it as long as possible. Have reached the top of the line with the roadie.
as for a Sportster, no can do. At 6 foot 2 and 110 kilos I will look like donkey kong on it.

I cannot deny a good heavy duty centrefold of a tastefully dressed black Harley does stir the blood.

I found our Road Kings much easier to move around in the shed, they handled brilliantly on the road. We now have a Road Glide Special, it is a little more difficult to move around, but still manage to do it easily enough, and I need a knee replacement. I am 61 next birthday.

Yep have to agree Steelo , but not strictly one eyed . This Old post has come to life again ,I have to admit I am in a better place now & the bike has been fun to climb on again since the problems have been sorted , I have done a few mods to my turntable thingy & it really has been a success , ride up, spin it round  $50 well spent

Interested in seeing your modified turntable.

The weight  of the bike was distributed front & back as you would imagine spins from 450kg rated central turn table , over time planks would sag slightly & drag on rotation , the addition of rollers on the back & wheels on front solved that problem. Next time I`ve got the bike off I will take some pics Wideglider, its basic but functional cheers

How many k's has your Road King done ?

    Quoting gidgi on 12 May 2019 09:53 PMedited: 12 May 2019 10:38 PM

34K now just had Fueling  lifters ,cam chains & tensioner`s done & the dyno tune  was tweaked a bit by a local shop in Nowra , conservative  86 /110   Jobson motorsport done a great job & very Happy, again . as far as moving around the shed I bought a 450kg lazy susan & screwed it to a plank  works a treat

You're obviously near me Gidgi (Greenwell Point), mate if you need a hand/riding buddy/workshop give me a yell.
Jobsons are a great shop and their dyno doesnt tell fibs.
Re: the bike, don't move it on. Tourers are the best HDs, you won't be happy going backwards to a smaller bike.
I'm 62 and have always done hard sports (League, surfing, MX), without wanting to be a cunt, it's much easier and better for you to rehab your body and get strong again. I raced MX/Enduro for 20+ years and only gave it away in '17. Heal yourself first bro. This year I bought a new house, a new FLHX and got a new girl who is quite a bit younger. I fair dinkum feel 40. All the best mate.
