Deeply disappointed that I'm not seeing a Spa Pool on the list though; its about the only thing missing.

Quoting JFE on 19 Jun 2019 03:41 AM

And have Steelo want to travel with you? No thanks.

Hello everyone, hope you are all safe and well and not letting the China Bug get you down.

What a massive first year we have had on the road (or lack of road) It all started with a 3 month shakedown run through the Central West of NSW to iron out all the bugs with the truck/Fiver combo. Threw out a lot of crap we didn't need, and bought a lot of stuff we didn't think we would need. Found out that 200L of fresh water was not going to cut it for extended off grid camping, so the net result was "We needed a bigger truck"

We returned to Adelaide late October 2019 as our Daughter was having another baby, so we could help her out and look for another truck. Luck was on my side, and I sold the IVECO for $65K within 8 hours of listing it on truck sales. Panic set in that we were now truck less and had no way of moving the Fiver if there was a fire in the area (Staying at a Caravan Park in the Adelaide Foot Hills)

Blessed to find an immaculate ISUZU NPR300 Premium Automatic dual cab with only 52K on the clock located in Orange. 1 owner, full service history, and 7 brand new Michellin tyres on it. Only wanted $40K for it, and it had massive locker box's on it already. BARGAIN

The Dealer then found out I am an Ex Veteran, and had heard about our work with Veterans that are doing it rough around Australia, and offered the truck to us for his cost price (plus rego) so we ended up getting it for $32K. Did I say BARGAIN ?
Shakedown run Murray River free camp Oct 2019

Camped up back in Adelaide at Brown Hill Creek Caravan Park Mitcham.

New Truck being fitted out with more solar panels, 2 x 260 ah AGM batteries, new brake controller, UHF, Alarm system, and cameras.

Got the truck home and ordered up a massive amount of new gear for her, which was fitted by Extreme Car & Caravan & Camping, this guy sure does know his stuff, and has done all our work on the Fiver and now truck.

3 x 250w solar panels, 2 x 260ag AGM batteries, batter monitor, DC Charger, 2 x Reversing Cameras, Alarm System, new Brake controller, took 2 days to install and commission. The Rig now has 2.7kw of solar panels fed into 4 x 260ah AGM batteries, converted into 240v by a Victron 3K Inverter/Charger. The truck feeds the van as well by a massive 500amp Anderson plug and cable.

    Roof of truck

    Roof of Fiver

We now moved onto the problem of more water, so a 800L belly tank was installed, and 2 x 150L tanks placed on the bed of the truck and plumbed into a portable 12v pump that simply clicks into the hose and pumps water directly into the Fiver.

During this time, my Service/Assistance dog Lu Lu tragically passed away on one of our daily walks, I just felt a tug on the lead and thought "here she goes again, sniffing something again" only to turn around and she was on her side spasming and not breathing. I commenced CPR and got her breathing again, but before Julie could get back to the Caravan park and get the car, Lu Lu passed away. I took this very hard, and it still makes me cry whilst typing this. I loved this dog, and she has saved my life on numerous occasions by keeping the Black Dog at bay.
We have Lu Lu's ashes with us now, and she will continue her journey around Australia with us in the Fiver.

We were keen to depart Adelaide early March, but as you all know the China Virus fucked that up for us, and we bunkered down here at Mitcham to see what the Gods had in store for us now.

Whilst Julie was able to secure more work, I found I was battling depression again and falling fast due to not having Lu Lu with me, and not being able to meet and chat with suffering Veterans on the road. We heard about a litter of Australian Cattle Dogs being born, and inquired about adopting a puppy to travel with us. The breeder was very understanding (Ex Vet) of my situation, and let us jump the Que to purchase a gorgeous Blue Healer who we have called Bella.

Bella guarding the steps to the bedroom.

What a smart Fur Baby this breed is, and she has helped heal my aching heart from Lu Lu's passing.

We were blessed again to be offered employment by a Company that runs Color Fest, they organise a family fun run/charity event all around Australia that has color stations, foam guns, jumping castle, obstacle courses, and we will be working and travelling with that company up and down the East Coast. There are two events that we will fly to as they are Tasmania, and Darwin.

We are all set to depart Adelaide now, and head to Cairns for the first event which starts on the 23rd August, followed by Townsville on the 30th August.
Hope to catch up with a few of the members along the way, and if you spot our rig, stop in as the fridge is always full.

Regards Lofty & July & Bella
