Yellow stickered in WA

    G'day lads

Got yellow stickered this evening. Patrol car came out of a servo as I rode past and they lit me up immediately. Did me for the pipes, too loud apparently. V&H big shot staggered.

I know there's no way around it, I have 10 days to sort it out otherwise I can't ride etc. I'll have to find some stock pipes or try the steel wool trick.

My question is - to the WA folks - where should I take the bike for inspection? I've heard some good and bad stories and I'd rather be one of the good ones.

The bike isn't very heavily modified, so I can't see them whining about anything other than the pipes, but I'm hoping there are some more chill authorised places I'm less likely to have dramas with?

You should be able to get some quieter baffles from V&H and they should be easy to swap over and then swap back to the louder one's when required

    Agree on the quieter baffles.

Vance and Hines are just loud noise makers so I can understand why you got pinged.  I know loud pipes save lives and I see this all the time when I ride, But V&H can be heard from 3 blocks away and all they do is just piss people off. (that's my view anyway)

I'll look into the quiet baffles.
I also agree about V&H pipes, they were on it when I bought the bike. I usually like a nice 2-1 but I just haven't had the chance to change em over.

not really! i have plenty of other financial priorities at the moment like saving for a house, wedding etc. don't think i could get away with dropping 1k on a different exhaust system. hell, i'm not even happy about the ~$150 inspection fee

Just be aware, pretty much any aftermarket pipe won't pass the test, quiet baffles or not.

Yeah I figured this would be th case, especially V&H. I think my best option is to track down some stockies...

Yeah I wasn't doing anything silly or anything, they literally just pulled out of a BP as I rode past and they lit me up straight away.
It was the BP on Hester after the freeway northbound

What year Train you got? Have some stock headers with SE slip ons in my shed doing nothing. Coming to Perth tomorrow. Came of a 2004 Night train/Softail. Wont fit an injected bike. No O2 bungs.

Not sure if you're replying to me mate, but I have a fatbob so I don't think your pipes will fit as the dynas and softails mount differently (someone correct me if wrong)
Very much appreciate the offer though

As someone else said above,  nothing will make those pipes complient - quiet baffles, steel wool.....nothing. Yiu’ll Definately need the stock pipes to pass. Dealers in Qld often have take offs the owners didn’t want....so maybe try ringing a few dealers. Good luck.

I think I may have sourced a set, but nothing concrete yet so i will definitely ask the dealers if need be. Thanks for the suggestion and luck!
