    Gday guys.
I've just picked up my bike after a performance kit upgrade. I rode it home last night and went for a ride today and when i got home I noticed an oil leak on my Garage floor. Not a huge one but leaking all the same. When i looked for the leak there was was a little drip on my pipe. I felt under the air intake (Heavy Breather) and there was oil dripping from there. This has only happened since yesterday afternoon.

    Any ideas?

I had a similar issue when I first fitted a 110 kit to my fatty and it stopped in a couple of hundred ks once the ring bedded in

My street glide did it from new, had to put a external breather to stop it

I copied Ando with what he did, i have deleted my photos but have added the link to Ando mod. Go to the search fuction on the main HD forums page and type in  External Breather.

check you are not running too much oil in the bike. Halfway up the dippy is fine.

Yeah Ive checked the oil level and its fine. I'll just have to try to call them monday or tuesday and let em know. I wont be able to get it back down there until I get home in 3 weeks.

Fellow at work proudly bought his fatboy along and parked it in the car park. Some of his work "mates" used to drip oil on the ground under the engine when he parked it there. Drove him almost mad.

Mine has previously dripped like that after the shop apprentice over-oiled the heavy breather. I wiped it away a few times and left a rag on the drip point over night (it went on my pipes).
Lesson learnt - always check for mechanic enthusiasm post-service, and do your own air filter cleaning/oiling in between. And put the breather sock on - the air filter oil stays on longer.

years ago a bloke in spares had a new engine fitted to his nissan, some smart apprentice added a few drops[litre] of auto trans fluid in his muffler.he headed home that night [ 1/2 hr drive ] once the exhaust was hot enough.......huge white cloud of smoke behind....straight to the garage that fitted the engine and raised hell.....only be told of what probably happened....said apprentice took a quick few days off 'till things cooled off a bit.

If I showed you guys the state of my garage floor youd be thinking...wtf is this dude concerned with... :P
Fact is Ive only had 6 months experience with Harley Davidsons, the bike wasn't like that before the upgrade and I just paid 5K to improve an already impressive bike. I couldnt get hold of the dealer before closing time yesterday and knew I couldnt get it looked at until mid feb. I just thought I'd get some answers from people who might have had the same issue.

If the heavy breather  air cleaner hasn,t been over oiled .
replace the o rings on the heavy breather mount bolts, they are part of the breather system .
they might look ok but still replace them..
that is a fair bit of oil,, make sure the o rings have been fitted

Mate had the same problem on my M8 Ultra. Possibly too much oil in the bike. My oil level was running up to the full mark, I drained  250ml - 500ml out. Mine now runs halfway between the upper and lower marks and no more oil leaking from filter.

Looks to me like the bike is buggered!  With the high mileage its got I'll do the right thing and offer you a grand for the bike as its obviously way past its best.
