Hi all, you would think motor bikes would have a lower toll than cars, when using motorways. Like they even let a car tow a trailer cheaper that a motor bike!!
Not sure if others aware of this, but as there is not bike tag & they just say link your motor bike rego number to your car tag. what they don't tell you is they add 55cents to your toll change & if it's on the M7 it's a 75cent add on. this is highway robbery!! a bike lighter less wheels a lot less road damage than a car & trailer. Truck pay double , bike should be half. we need to stand up do something ( election year )
if the let a car towing a trailer that mostly has 6 wheels and tyres in contact with the road, then give heavy truck a really high toll, I think as no purpose made tag for motor bikes they should have free use of the motorways,

I agree, we should have free use of toll roads. we're doing our bit by reducing congestion and less damage to the roads. I used to get free use of the logan motorway here in QLD before they switched to etags. Just carried a $50 dollar note to hand to the toll attendent. Worked every bloody time.

There is a LOT to be said for using a top saddle bag that sit over the license plate.  Can be seen perfectly well from car height to the police etc have no issue, BUT the bag obscures it enough that the Toll cameras over the Motorway cannot get a shot of the plate.

Would not be putting too much faith in that method on the Sydney tollways. I had a top bag that sat over number plate and the cameras picked my plate up. Maybe the Melbourne ones are set up different.
Was talking to a local rider in Sydney who reckoned to avoid the cameras all you had to do was ride on the very left or right of the road (over the side of the edge line markers) when you go under the camera structures. Don't know if that is true or not but I reckon the plod might want to suss you out if you pulled that stunt in front of em.

Riding on the very left or right close to the guard rail did work for a while but hasn't worked for a couple of years. Also u used to be able to ride on the white line between multi lanes and not get charged but that was also covered after a while.

We are blessed in the west ( at least at the moment !) as there is NONE of this chit.

Couple years back 2 of my Harley riding mates went round Oz for 3 months on KLR 650's

Got home to Perth , one to several "fines" from Toll roads , the other to NONE !

WTF ? They had differing luggage setups for the journey , tents etc etc. Obviously one plate obscured enough by pure chance

you are another victim. they told me the same  have a normal tag for my ute & the bikes rego is linked to that , BUT check bank statement!! using some motorways bank statement shows they took an additional 55cents, but on the M7 75cents, then you carry the bulky tag while riding that is made for a car windscreen and that add on charge does not show up.
check your bank statements carefully, as electronic payment biggest rip off and they know not many check it. bring back the toll booth more employment and you can pay cash if want to and know what it costs.
so forget what they have up on the web page. all motor cyclists should have all that cash returned with interest like they would do to us!!

Another side note, back when Bob Carr was premier of NSW he added what he called a 3x3 , to pay for roads & roadworks, the three by three was 3 cents extra on fuel tax the second three was for three years. but Bob extended the add on tax & when he left and was replaced the tax stayed and also increased but no mention of that now it is there. these motorways should be free!!

I must be lucky - just rechecked my last 2 statements (6 months in total) and the toll's under the Number Plate Identified  section are exactly the same as the Tolls that are listed in the individual tag section - no extra fees. The only fee is a merchant fee for the automated top ups (0.35 cents)

Using an RMS E-Toll Tag (old RTA) and yes pretty well use all of them.
Live at Carlingford so use the M2, M4, M5, M7, Lane Cove Tunnel, Harb Bridge & Harb Tunnel and the Eastern Dist

Same tag I use, and almost fell over, as I lived in Carlingford for years myself, only moved after I retired. still got the tag but got new RMS tag  mostly use M7 M2 when in Sydney.
