After a sunny morning riding to work today, while my boss is too busy to check what I am doing. I can't help but making this post, that is:
Any anyone realised Melbourne is such a heavenly heaven, best of best place to own/ride a motorcycle (especially Harley) on this planet?

    1. You can ride whole year.
I am pretty sure right now many European/Americans are hiding their toys in the garage to avoid snow, but in Melbourne, through a whole year, you have couple of days too hot but not toooo hot, couple days too cold but not toooo cold, couple of days pouring but not in the flood, we basically can manage to ride 365 days a year.

    2. All types of terrains.
Twisty? Kinglake; Along the beach? Great Ocean Road; Plain/flat/straight and fast? West victoria most part; Bar-to-bar? City/Lygon St.

    3. Drives are nice, especially truck drivers (and riders are dicks).
Compared with many other countries, seriously, no drivers open their car window and throw an unfinished chip bag in the air (in front of you); no truck will dump uncovered/overloaded concrete onto you while you are passing. I have seen some riders doing (show off) burnout on the street while drivers behind just stop and wait. If I do this in "some country", a truck loaded with 1.5 times stuff of its maximum capacity would crush me over like a frog.

All people living in Melbourne but not riding really miss big fun for their lives.

EDIT: QLD is nice too, just sometimes 50 degree, melt the tyres which never happened in Melbourne. ;)

This has got to be a G up, every time I ride through Melbourne (on the way to Phillip Island or the Franskston Clubhouse) it is pissing down, foggy, stinking hot and traffic gridlocked.
Hate the fucken place with a vengeance,

    Nice in the countryside though.

I commute every day on the motorway and must admit that its pretty good riding.  Police are good to deal with and definetly not like the QLD crowd and drivers in general are awesome (except for those not born in AU - bloody wheetbix licenses)

Victoria is a good place, to ride, and keep it up. But, there are always other very great places in Aus. I lived in Melb for 10 years, and was great roads, but always still tossers on the road. I"ll never forget when a dude pulled out in front of me in Spencer street while I was coming home from work. Tripped over his Triumph sports car, on my Honda VF1000, do you know what his name was, Simon Fucken Templar, and he gave me his card, and sent me 3G"s for any repairs. Melbourne is weird.

Added bonus if you live in the mountains and work in the city. I do 700-900km per week with a big chunk of it smiling ear to ear.

Looking at that now Steve. I did commute 129 kms to work in Smelbourne and 129kms back to my bush block every day, but was mad to utilise company car, although snuck a few rides in.Fucken black ice in Victoria, did it for me over winter though, riding during that period. Fuck that, outta control.. I was lucky.

I recon Victoria is ok to ride but I will keep out of Melbourne , as I'm lost. weather down there not that good.
But anywhere in Australia on a sunny day on an open road no traffic is good!! just dodge the City's. or call it Dodge City!!
I thought the ride down from Cairns was great but Bruce HWY a bit boring, but FNQ bikers get 100 out of a 100 in my books they all give u a wave. NSW biker's a very sad lot!!

Forgot to think about commute traffic. Yes it is terrible. I live in Diamond Creek and work in some bush suburb further north. St Andrews, Christmas Hills etc, always against the main traffic flow. I guess I commute every day on a route most people can only go on weekend. :D

Know St Andrews, and Warrandyte, and all surrounding areas in that region. Some good twistys in amongst that mix.Fuck, had some good times there early 80"s , 82, after being deported from SA.
Bikes a course. We lived on 10 acres at one stage, my dog, and me, backing on the Yarra river, Victoria, in a mud brick house built by Alistair Knox.
Amazing times. XT500 my ride then. Commute to Melbourne fuck all, but stay away from the shit hole, near as bad as Sydney.

I’m sure Melbourne / Victoria has some great roads to ride but Melbourne itself is always somewhere I’m keen to get back out of. It’s a cold, windy and soulless place.

Hey friends and Mexicans. Planning on riding from ADELAIDE to Doncaster on sat for a cousins 50th. Get to ride and party. Google maps came up with an option which goes from dimboola to near Bendigo before heading down to Melbourne. Not much in it Re k’s or time. Am I better going via Horsham and Ballarat. If you are on your own and doing no Pub stops stay on the Hwy, all 110kmh (120) just south of Ararat now.

But, the back way from Bendigo A to M and Return M to A , is an interesting ride. Stick Highway or go interesting way, do this ride less than I should, but least twice a year.msge.
