To be fair Dan it would be great if you could take on a CVO 110 Dyna. The Softail S is 25 Kg heavier and it’s old CVO 110 like all TC Softails, runs two heavy chain driven balance shafts, then there’s it’s 255 cam, great for early torque but it’s pretty much all over by 5000rpm.
My stock 110 CVO Dyna pulls away from stock Softail S’s with ease so if you can find say a CVO 110 Dyna Fat Bob to race I’d be interested to hear how they compared. Cheers.

Low rider s is a dyna.
Stock 110 engine runs low compression with the 255 torque cam. It's a lazy engine so no real surprise that a 103 with some work might be quicker

Oh fuck, re read it, Dan did say Lowriders S didn’t he. I swear I didn’t have any booze last night either. Sorry Dan.
Yeah Fatbat the 110 is a lazy bugger, bit like riding a diesel, gotta shift early but I still like the feel.
Clearly Dan getting 6 lengths by 4th gear is pretty good and I appreciate the comparison cause I’ve been thinking about dropping in an SE585 with 4degree advance myself, not sure if Dan’s was an SE or S&S 585 though.
(Better get myself to Spec Savers)
    Cheers.

Ratbob the Harley 117 bolt on kit for your 110 goes very well.
To the op, how much budget you got? Cam change makes lots of people happy. If you’re gonna change pistons and cylinders from 96 to 103 don’t bother and go as big as you can which is 110. No extra coin above 103 really but bigger is better

So question....  if your looking sink $5k into it what options are there for an entire engine swap to an aftermarket S&S or something?  Just hrowing it out there as I have not idea about the costs here.

Again, have you looked at a turbo?  stock cams and a lazy bike with low compression UNTIL boost kicks in and then a screamer that would leave most in its wake.

You really need to be honest with yourself as to what you want to achieve.
A lot of people spend more than necessary by doing 2 or 3 different builds chasing what they want (me included !)
Do the job once, and you will save in the long run.
The stage 4 or even 5 HD kits do quite well IF tuned properly, but there are other options.
I would use an independant shop though. Avoid HD dealers.
Do yourself a big favour and give Brian at Eastern Big Twin a call. They are a sponsor.

Hey mate I'm in the same boat myself.
Tearing my hair out deciding which way to go.
I have an 09 train and thinking about the stage 4 or whether to go for a full build bottom  to top.
Have to get some pricing done on the build but wondering what your pricing was like on the stage 4 ride in ride out.
