    Oh not that Violin again!
The first two times it was a laugh, the next 6 times were okay, but it's getting a little tiresome now after a dozen or so!

I had a listen. I’m starting to get in to Derek a little more, lately. And hells yeah! Great tune :-) And a well performed and recorded live session is the best way to enjoy music, I reckon.

Derek's a great slide player eh? Open E. But I also love Susan, what a singer. She's channelling Janis, Raitt, Billie Holliday.
(Plus I love her thighs!) -I know that's not allowed nowadays, but, there ya go!

I wish I’d learned an instrument but it’s something I never did, so I’m not exactly sure what an open E does. I’m a big fan of The Stones though and read about Keith and his open G tuning. It’s a cool way of getting an individual sound out of the guitar :-)

    Funny you should mention Keef!
I learned guitar playing with Keef and Dick Taylor (Stones original guitarist) in the cloakrooms at Sidcup Art School.
Keef was always a lazy bastard, he tuned to an open chord so he didn't have to actually take the trouble to finger the chord, he even deleted the bass E string to make it even easier.
BUT... he actually is one of THE great rhythm guitar players in spite of all that!
(Open tuning is when you tune the guitar to a (any) particular chord so that it plays the chord without you having to actually finger the fretboard).
It's great for improvising, you'll see how Derek Trucks does it, -REALLY REALLY expressive soulful guitar playing.

Ohh wow. So you’d have followed their progress right from the start. That’s very cool. I always loved the dirty sound Keith was / is able to create. And to this day Sympathy for the Devil (live from Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out) is my all time favourite song. A great track, well recorded live, a good length and just magical guitars.
Ok, I’m gonna give Derek a little more attention when I’m off in the truck this weekend.
    Cheers Jools.

Never to old to learn...I went to Nashville in 2017 at 59. I have always wanted to play the guitar and after spending a week on the piss in bars and listening to plenty of bands I came home and signed up for lessons..18 months on I still can't play much but can get a tune out of any of my 4 guitars. This is the first time for as long as I can remember that I am doing something soley for myself and am absolutely loving it...

Good onya Sparra, keep at it. My tip is to keep it simple, don't try to learn stuff that's too difficult. Practice playing more simple stuff tastily.
(I don't normally go around dropping names but when Bogn mentoned Keef, it was an invitation!)

Sparra, that’s great to hear. I’m not a heap of years behind you and have NEVER played but this is definitely food for thought :-)
And yes Jooles, she does have nice legs ;-)
