There's a complete 1340 evo engine and running gear for sale on Gumtree from Bathurst. But it's older than your engine and a crankcase breather. It's $3,500.
You don't see too many pop up second hand and when you do they're not cheap.
What's wrong with your's?  Have you considered rebuilding with s&s parts?

Since the bearing collapsed, the whole thing has shit itself, the cost to rebuild and do it properly is around 5k, and that is just way out of my league right now.
So I thought maybe there might be one out there at a better price than the rebuild cost.
Keep my engine and rebuild at a later date.
I’ll check the Bathurst one out during the week and see if it’s any good

Better off rebuilding it I reckon. 5k for a rebuild solid donk is better than paying 3.5k for an old unknown engine on my eyes.
The price of 2nd hand evos of questionable quality is part of the reason im using a TC motor in my project.

But I don’t think a TC will fit in my 96 softail?

And I agree about the rebuild!, but that will mean it’s off the road for a long time, and that is tough not to be able to ride

It can made to work with an adaptor and new ignition, cost a couple hundred, but can be worth it when cheap, take off twin cam motors pop up for sale.

Can't hurt to offer a lot less for a second hand evo engine. Whilst there's not many around, there aren't many buyers for them either.
For me the second hand engine would have to be cheap as you don't know how reliable it'll be vs a rebuild or new engine.

Tc engines are great and cheap if you can make it work. Each to their own but my evo will always have an evo engine in it

I agree, was more thinking in the lines of having an engine in it to ride while I slowly put money away to rebuild evo to eventually put back in.
I think I’m just gonna bite the bullet and park the bike and just rebuild slowly

Just rebuild.  Nothing worse then paying a chitload of money to buy an engine of 'unknown' condition.  They will ALWAYS say she has 100km on the engine and runs sweet; until it drops a valve on yoour first ride.

PM me , i have the name and number for a 99 engine, all black ,night train with low K's according to the owner. The info was given to me about two months ago ,so if its still available ,great ,if its gone, its gone.
On rebuilds , i have seen engines over the years where replacement is the cheapest option ,conversely, i have seen engines replaced where a rebuild would have been far cheaper.
A note on these type of transactions , i will pass on contact details , the transaction is strictly between the buyer and seller i will play no part in the deal whatsoever, regardless of buyers or sellers expectations.

    Cheers.

If you can stretch to it, a complete new S&S Evo engine would be my pick.

Yes I know you’re right!, just the 5k has hit at the worst possible time!

Theres a crank case breather Evo on Gumtree at the moment. Says $3.5k but not sure if it comes with a tranny and primary for that price or not.

It is hard call, I saw an EVO motor that had nothing left inside you could re use, roller bearings warn to nothing, pistons hitting heads.
