    Hi guys,
Been told by dealer not to ride bike 17 Flhx untill recall service 173 is completed. Harley recall letter says , "should you choose to ride your motorcycle prior to this service, we urge you to be aware of this condition".
Anyone had issues with the clutch not disengaging when first put into gear or stopping?
Dealers (2 different ones) cant complete recall till parts arrive in couple of weeks and then only limited kits available. Could take months to be fixed.

Letter says nothing about riding your bike besides be aware of problem so nothing changers until next service in 2000 km when it will be fitted hopefully. Was starting to wonder if we were going to hear anything from HD Aus.

Its a recall service not general service. Two dealer's have told me not to ride it, one other dealer said check fluid level in master cylinder if it was low dont ride it.

Yep relize that, on their advice it will be done at same time as next service only 2000 away so will be done within next month and i guess they can’t do all bikes at once. I haven’t had any problem with my clutch. Has anyone noticed anything with their rides?

Dropped my bike in for service and the dealer said I will go on the list for this fix, can’t do it now. Turned around and picked up a stack of work orders thicker than a lord of the rings book. Could not tell me when they would have parts and therefore no time frame.
Apparently (according to person behind the counter) not riding is an issue as the fluid can drain from clutch back into bike whilst sitting still.
So I guess it depends on who you ask!

Dropped my bike off today to get the actuator recall done tomorrow - got the letter yesterday. Dealer said they were supplied with 8 kits.
Was given a demo Street Bob for a loaner - fark, I know why I love my SGS! No a fan off mid controls, although they did feel better in the twistier stuff, thought my bike sounded quiet when standard - postie bike anyone ;) the dash is fekken hard to read when not in the shade - pretty useless really, motor sounded horrible. On a positive, the gearbox action was smooth and direct and I really liked the suspension - the rear especially, very compliant and hardly felt any bumps/road joins etc. They have done a great job with the chassis and suspension. Overall the bike felt very cramped, and I'm not a big bloke - forwards would definitely improve the seating position.
Lastly, the colour -looked like Rustoleum 'red oxide' - fekken horrible!

I have never received any letter but Wackers did mine a few weeks ago now. Makes me wonder why so many dealers have so few of the new parts, maybe I was lucky. Wackers told me the parts are distributed on a VIN number basis, which I also thought was odd seeing Gasoline Alley and many other dealers apparently have a “list” that people with effected bikes need to get on to get it sorted.......strange days in dealer land.

Hi DocGreen , how did the clutch pull on Street Bob feel compared to SGS? I've only ridden bone stock Lowrider, so sounded like a dishwasher, I road it 100km felt ok, have to remember I have never owned a bike with a windscreen in my life, but ridden Harleys without a break since the late 1970's ( I miss kick starting!! )

Hey Krash, you know what, I reckon the clutch pull was the only thing I didnt pay much attention to, so it must have been good?? I think its engagement point was more precise compared to the SGS, but I don't  really have too many issues with the SGS, just its weird engagement point. Some guys complain of a heavy pull but If im at lights, I pop it into neutral, did the same with the old fatboy.
You could definately set the Street  Bob up to be a nice ride, but stock felt horrible to me.

    Cheers

Hey OzDan, I'd been discussing the recall with my dealer since it was announced and got the call from them before my letter arrived. I imagine your letter will eventually arrive, but good on your dealer for doing yours quickly.
PS may look into the larger clutch pushrod in the new year, mine has transfered once, seems ok again now,  no rhyme or reason to it.

thank's Doc, yes you get used to your ride & notice thing's more when you ride a different bike. I just thought hydraulic clutch pull would be lighter.
