    The spring didn't work.

    Pads next.

Told you pads at the start, the noise will still be there but depending on the brand the pitch of the noise changes

Pads first, rotor second, caliper third. If I can't get rid of the noise I'll sell the bike. It's like fingernails on a blackboard to me. For 10 months the brakes worked silently. It gets a fluid flush and now it's buzzing like a fucking vibrator.

Might sound weird, dunno how it'd cause it but I had the exact same issue and switched my HD stainless braided lines for some different ones and the buzzing/vibration went away. When I first noticed it I rang my mechanic and asked wtf and he asked if I had stainless braided lines and I said yep and he said that's what it is. Never noticed it on the rear which never had the stainless braided lines.

Got some Z series Lyndall pads coming next week, in the meantime, I've tried new OEM pads, no change.

Been watching the comments, I’ll be surprised if  the lyndell z make any difference  that’s  what I’ve been
Running in my bikes for the last ten years   due to there less dust   And my bikes have the buzz
All ways put it down to holes in discs    One Bike isn’t as bad as the other different  both evo softails
Obviously no abs Both have same brake masters   One has stainless braid line  std evo caliper  z pads
The other which is quieter  floating Oem rotor  braided black line  but running a Brembo aftermarket
4 spot  which from what I can tell is similler to a victory or bmw 800fsg  I think it was
Prior to running lyndell s I  had ran sbs. And ferodos  noise  was there than too with different brand rotors
Plain zinc to shiney  chrome    So have just lived with it as another HD issue but could honestly say have never had it
In any of my jap bikes

Agree it’s just part of the HD experience LOL

OK, that's depressing. A HD issue that persists with non-HD parts. There's a fuck-ton of speculation as to the reason, but nobody really knows.

My Triumph has twin floating ventilated rotors, no noise.

My unhelpful post ....I wear earplugs to lessen the wind noise and my exhaust noise is not the quietest.
Brakes serviced regularly & operate effectively - wouldn't know & not worried whether a buzzing noise is there or not.
"If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
But I do understand it concerns you & hope you get it sorted, am interested in the remedy just out of curiosity.

Well there ya go. Now that I have been made aware that some on the forum have disc brakes having a buzzing noise, I now notice my pushbike front brake buzzes. I would probably say it has always buzzed. I wasn't actively listening out for it, must have subliminally been aware so then it came to my notice.
Difference though with me to some other riders posting here is that I really don't care about it!

Nah steelo, playing card soggy & quietened down from all this rain down here, could be the reason I can now hear the brake buzzing.

Old thread .... old enough to pull it up again.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this issue?

I only just bought my Fatboy and that weird noise was the first thing I noticed without even reading  about it before.
It's terrible  and I want it gone.

If need be, I will really need to follow the advice with the louder exhaust ... ;-) but my neighbors might not like mine getting louder than it is already.

Sorry, I thought I'd posted the solution I found.

Z series Lyndall pads. Not the Gold series. Red pack, not blue pack. Dead silent right from the off and still silent today.

And so I ordered some and put them in when they arrived in Dec 2018 and it fixed the problem. What was your point again?

I must have missed that whilst reading. Thanks again ..... Hope my buzzing will go away with the same solution.

You got any theory as to why changing brake fluid causes buzzing?
  • Smokey61

Mine started after a dealer service with fluid change, pads were good, so not replaced. But the noise was there at the first brake application out of the dealer. That's when I started this thread.

Tried new genuine pads, noise remained. Then tried Z series Lyndall pads. Red pack. Instant fix. Two years and no buzzing so far.
