Yep, heat exhaustion, No Spot tracker or Eperb/Satphone on him.
Very experienced bike rider on a well equipped Adventure bike. Always pays to travel in pairs, and always be prepared for the worse.

    RIP

Yep bit foolish doing it by himself as we know many variables beyond our control riding a bike

    Shame for the loss

My son carries an eperb on him when he is out riding his dirt bike just incase anything happens

I have a GPS tracker on my bike that would allow someone to find me if I didn't come home but basically its there incase someone tries to move the bike without my consent :)

It’s happened to folks with 4WD rentals, one at Lake Eyre where they even had a tank of water, got lightly bogged, one left the car to get help but died, to get the car out cops just let the tyres down.
    Often so simple.

I've ridden the Gibb river rd twice. I always try and pick the correct season.
Riding in 40-plus heat is Ok as long as nothing goes wrong.
Trying to fight deep bulldust saps your energy and cooks you from the inside.
I remember running out of water up at Cape York. Scary feeling.

I have a seriously modified 4wd twin cab, carry a PLB and I wouldn't try the Gibb River track solo, let alone on a bike.
It's sad that he died but it was a seriously risky thing he did.

Just bought one now from Snowys. $259 delivered. Great piece of mind when anywhere remote.
