What exactly do you mean by “aftermarket motor”??

If it's registered with the new motor it should be fine, check with rego authority first though. If it's registered with the original engine you may have probs getting rego. Once again, check with rego authority.

I'm gonna assume that your entire engine has been replaced with a larger displacement engine. This means you have a different engine case and engine number.

Rego is the first issue. If you don't care that it's rego'd with the wrong engine and you can get it rego'd that way, you're ok.
But your second issue is insurance. If you make a claim and it's found to have the wrong engine don't expect the insurer to help.
Third issue is resale. I wouldnt buy a bike with the wrong/bigger engine unless I got it cheaper than its worth

I wouldn't have thought it'd have been an issue getting registration updated to include new bigger engine, unless of course there was some issue with engine numbers (did they have them back then?) being stolen. I mean it's not like the brakes etc have been improved over the years with bigger engines like cars. I remember back in the day, it was very popular for Yammy RD250lc owners to put 350 heads and parts on so they could ride a bigger bike on a learner licence.
You lose nothing by getting the matter sorted before you buy it. Good luck

Depends on state. In ACT you can increase capacity by the 20% without engineering cert.

Very progressive there. You can ride a Harley on a learners licence I understand.

Yeah they use a power to weight rule rather then capacity. From memory breakouts used to be learner legal but sporty 1200s weren't. This was before M8 engines so may have changed.

Define larger.... I is common and easy with the old Evos to increase the engine size from 80" to 95/98" so what size is the engine?  And is the bike already Registered?

Are you sure you’re not talking about the ease of going from 88ci to 95 or 98ci in the first of the twin cams?
I think evo engine can only go to 83ci with top end change before needing to go into the engine casing.
