Upgrading Boom audio for Harley Tourning Rushmore

Hey guys, new here but not to Harley. Just sold my 2009 Ultra Limited and got a lovely 2018 Limited with only 8,000ks on it! pics to follow. on my older bike I upgraded the stereo with biketronics, sony stereo system,  polk audio speakers , sounded great but what a pain to install etc. I am loving the boom 6.5 on my new bike but just want a little more punch, not a ton , while I find the standard system great but when you do hit the volume it is a little wanting. So what i want from you guys is some advice. Harley dealerships only want to sell you the most expensive system so i have a quote for $3700 for supply and fit the stage 2 Boom system that includes an amp for the tourpak,  they (begrudgingly) say you can go cheaper at $1800 for an amp and upgraded front speakers. I dont really want to do the install myself unless anyone out there says a halfwit could dot it!, i looked at videos and it looks much more complicated to remove dash etc than on the 09. So far have looked at Boom Audio and Hog tunes. Would like to go Boom and have the dealership install it but dont want to be ripped off. I can get the boom 4 speaker kit and amp for less that $1000 shipped from the states but  dont want to get it to find i could have paid a bit more and had a better system or I stuff up the install. what do you think??? , i cant have been the only other one in this situation... Help please

Have a look at biketronics again and research/post on the audio section of hdforums.com
They generally offer the best value for money with lifetime warranty. Most of the yanks use their line leveller with success. They have good sales from time to time and like you if you get a good deal you pay someone else to install

I had the local dealer fit the Boom stage 1 upgrade to my bike, it's louder but the sound quality isn't much better.
If I was doing it again (and having since heard the stage II upgrade) I'd pay the extra for stage II.

I've got Rockford Fosgate gear in my Triton (higher end) and in the Mitsubishi hatch (entry level) and both work really well for what they are.

If I'd known Rockford Fosgate did HD sound systems I would have gone that way!

Hi Qg. Why don’t you use the supplied Harley helmet headset or get some.  You may be using earplugs at speed on the big rides when listening to music is good. Headsets sound good even at low volume levels. Plus you get the phone / gps / intercom compatibility. You don’t sound like a knucklehead when riding in built up areas with too loud music. It’s what I do.
For the money you are thinking of spending. You could get the whim and Bluetooth headsets.

Sinister Sound in US have good stuff too . The upgraded Harley stuff is good , but could still be better . I have Harley 300w fairing mounted amp and 4 speakers on a '14 Streety , would go aftermarket if I did it again .

Thanks mate, i tried the supplied headset and it doesn't fit my favorite helmet (too tight on my ears) but pt fits my other helmet and it works quite well, BUT i dont know if the day to day riding will annoy me with plugging it in and out etc....I could try the bluetooth alternative but thats quite an outlay if it doesn't suit either. i appreciate the input   Thanks
