  60k not a lot of miles, for you weight the carb dyna would be good, as they are not too heavy and have a big motor. the carb simple , the motor simple. they have the strong 5 speed gear box.

  just check out service history and if the cam chain tensioners have been changed for new ones. that model still has timken drive side bearing, so a strong motor.

  2008 sporty ok but EFI & no trap door to remove gear box, via primary. so in the event of a gear box problem you have to pull whole motor & split cases.

   Krash raised a good point re the cam tensioner. Check if you can or budget to do it.

  I’m 6’2 and while I like Sportys I reckon you’re more likely to grow out of the Sporty and into the Dyna. 

  You didn’t mention your riding style/location. If your in the hills sporty’s are great fun but so are Dyna’s (except for maybe the wideglide) and the Superglide will give greater comfort on longer runs.

  Sporty 1200 every day!  I'm 6'2", 180lbs and ride the pants off my 2009 883 every day and love it.  Bike is light, stops on a dime and pulls hard due to a great power/weight ratio.  
  

  The sporty will leave the bigger bike in the dust every time.  

  
  

  So whats your riding palns?  Around town and or 2-3 hour trips (then tick for the sporty) or 6+ hour or interstate rides then go for the larger cruiser.

  Yep, I’m close to 205 Lbs and reckon the tourque to weight ratio counts more these days than the power ratio. :) Clearly at 308 Lbs 2freeq is a big guy. I think Arnie was around 260 Lbs and as great to ride as they are, I can’t picture him on a Sporty.

  Fuck the sporty...unless you got a missis that can ride it..

   All you will be doing is looking at upgrading in a years time. The big twin is a better option hands down.

  Yeah 10 prob ok but if it were me I would keep looking, you will get a later model with lower ks for not much more then that if your patient and willing to look and haggle

  PS, man. just a thought, maybe foot plates, as such HD Tourers have, are very comfortable, if not installed can always add.

  your a big unit , a sporty will look like its sticking out your arse , go  a the super glide  , actually with your size    i would probably go a road king , be paitent , something will come up ,

  +1 for a Dyna - I have 2, I'm several inches taller than you (and a few kilos heavier) 
  

  Don't get me wrong sporties are great but they're not for the taller riders. Yes there are forwards and extended forwards but a Dyna will fit you better out of the box.
  

  What is your actual budget?

  If it were me I'd get the cheapest 96" dyna you can find, that way it'll be fuel injected and you can turn it into a 103/107/110 down the track if/when money permits. even if it is high km then a big bore conversions gets you a new top end.
