He’s going to have to.. problem is I’m not sure he realises it may get really expensive, all custom colours and the graphics go over the door.
Not to mention if they start dismantling things it’s going to get messy, you know how old stuff is, like onions, peel away one problem, there’s another

That’s what insurance is for if it becomes costly.  Preferably his insurance

Nah was already painted when it came to me, I’d love to get the thing repainted but the couple of guys I’ve spoken to have suggested $15k+

Looks like that door has a bit of bog in it that didn't adhere to the metal so good, tough being the engineer, yes, he did knock the door, but he knocked a door that is covered in bog just waiting to pop off at the slightest tap,

Typical no respect anymore. Sure he wasn't a Harley mechanic? I just got my bike back chipped paint scratches all over it and bodged up big time with some clown mechanic treating it like shithouse paper. I had a mate a similar thing happened to with a car in the early 90s and he politely asked the painter what car he drove and was he proud of it? The painter said the HQ in the yard and my mate asked how's the paint on it? The proud painter said I will show you. And my mate said it was perfect untill he modified it with a hammer from the boot of his car!!  You scratch my shit! I scratch yours

Ya know, heard many of those stories.. Was an apprentice spray painter for Claridge Hole in SA long time ago. Even undercoated by self a Rolls Royce Silver tingo... and drove it... Anyway, head dude said to me you can do better than this, or end up like me with arthritis in the hands from water rub.. 3 months and I bailed, same as many other apprenticeships in the 70's ... Anyway fuck  I wished I had kept spraying. Is an art, and very satisfying, to see good art work...
And rodders, what's with the inference to "touchup guys".. Am a little hesitant to ask more.....

Over 20 year's I worked for General Motors Holden building car's and still own an 11 second Monaro and bog stock HZ ute that was my uncle's car. When I first got a Harley an old bloke that was a very old patch member said to me NEVER leave a motorcycle unattended at a mechanic I thought he was bullshitting me but his wise word's should have been listened to. I had a brand new Yamaha WR400 in 1999 that was never touched by anyone but me and I made the mistake of taking it to one of Yamahas largest seller's in Adelaide in 2009 for cam chain adjustment the head mechanic told me the bike needed to stay overnight and the bike was never the same wouldn't idle and run like shit in the end (3 years later!) I took it to a Yamaha dealer 350km away who I knew as a kid. The mechanic looked over the bike and asked "when was the engine changed?" I said it's never been changed and had only ever been out of my sight when Yamaha Pitmans had it over night. He then informed me the engine was from another bike and some prick had stolen the original.
