Doing a 6 week 16,000km lap around Australia. Just about to reach the halfway point in the ride and have achieved a personal 'milestone' of  100,000kms on my trusty 2011 Street Glide. Absolutely reliable stock standard engine/exhaust-wise, with creature confort ergonomic changes like heated hand grips, forward mounted floor boards and the fabulous Revo-A shocks that make all the difference to the ride on the back of beyond roads in the top end and northwest coast. Loving this wide brown land we live in!

Good stuff, sadly my brand new 2012 street glide has been anything BUT reliable. Now up to 67000klm but plenty of issues. Enjoy your lap

Being of a certain age (62) I'm not camping!  Some great pubs available at good rates so no need to camp IMHO. You'll see the RJ gearsack on the pillion backrest in the photo. One pannier is spares,  tools,  wet weather gear, spare gloves.  One pannier for misc stuff.  Carrying five quick dry tshirts/ boxers/ sox, one pair each jeans and casual shorts, one pair each of sandals and shoes. Hotels make laundry every few days easy.  Roughly riding 3-4 days then one rest day. Am riding with two other mates,  who are on BMW GS1200s. Talk about the touring odd couple

Hi Mattt, and Cool, yeh its not a bad ride around Oz, I done it in 2015. I camped from Brissy, up Coast & across top and down to Perth. But cabins across the bottom of Oz as torrential rain.  Post some more pics please, and ride Safe

G'Day Mattt, wow 16 000 km trip that's a trip you can tell your grandchildren about.  The longest trip I have done so far is 6 000km over a two week period with lots of sight seeing.  I couldn't agree more with you on 'loving this wide brown land we live in', except that it's not all brown.  Please put more pictures up for us to enjoy and maybe even get some of us inspired to go on our own trips.  Thanks for posting, made me reminisce about some of my trips that I have done.

    Nice photos, thanks for posting.
Be doing a bit of the Gregory dev rd next week myself.
With the 5 or 6 thousand km service interval for oil and filter, how did you guys manage the maintenance side ?
    Cheers Ken

2011 Street Glide service interval is 8000km. Put new tyres on in Canberra and had Canberra HD give her a good check over at the same time.
I have stuck with the HD branded Dunlops because I get great mileage and grip from them.  Always 20-22000km per set, and I've done Canberra to Townsville twice, Canberra to Uluru, Canberra to Margaret River,  Canberra to Tassie, and a loop from Canberra through NSW-SA-Vic.(When people ask how I get that great mileage from tyres I tell them that I'm 62 not 22!). With 9500kms on them now I'm positive they'll still be good until I get home with 16,000kms on them (albeit a little more square on the profile).
96k service fell due in Townsville.  Sun City HD did a great job, and once again gave it an extra close inspection knowing that I was on my way to Perth.  I've used them before. They offer a free loaner for the day too! Highly recommended dealership.  It's around 8000km to Perth the route we are taking and Perth HD will do the 104k service there.
