    Hello all,
I purchased Sunpie  LED day maker lights from Amazon this week and noticed my head light has this additional light(DRL). Model 2015 Iron 883. Now the light I purchased doesn’t have this additional wires for DRL’s. Can any one let me know what sort of after market LED head lights are on the market that would suit my bike? I am planning to return the SUnpie light and get a correct light that suits my bike. I can see two wires connected to DRL is the picture attached below. Any help regarding this enquiry is much appreciated.

I'm not into electric's, but I have always believed that light was a parking light. my bike and all the Harleys I have owned had them. they are not DRL, as my full headlight is on all the time. until I turn bike off. that light only stays on when I turn ignition off and have key at acc. my bike still has a key , not a fob.
when you get a LED fitted post up how well it works at night.

I bought a cheapie the other day, had the same issue but I didnt care haha.
I did note that one of the visual differences between the cheapies and the Harley Daymaker whichis over 10x the cost,  is that it appears to have a parking light.

The 'DRL' is just a parking light, same as on a car.  Given your headlight is constantly on anyway, its pointless and has no effectiveness when riding.  Unless you're parking or moving the bike around in a dark space and want the small light the parking light gives you without the bike 'on'.

The genuine HD one has a provision to keep the parking light, as I think there is an additional LED on their daymaker headlights which you can connect to.

The aftermarket ones don't have this, I bought a 50$ ebay one and installed it, and don't have a parking light.  No biggie.  All I did was electrical tape the ends of the two connectors so there's no chance of a short to the headlight housing, and stuff them in behind the daymaker.

I suspect that the Hog Lights and Moto Lights local sellers also do not have a parking globe provision (I'm pretty sure I contacted one of them at one stage and asked and this was the feedback I received).   But they are also 300$, cheaper than HD, but you can buy 5 ebay ones for the same price (which I would suspect come from the same factory anyway).

I'll give you the hot tip.

If the LED element is made by a company called "cree" you have the same guts as the daymaker.

It boggles belief that HD can charge so much for essentially the same thing.

Isn't it an ADR requirement to have parking lights ?
I would have thought that the Hog Lights would have had one.
    Cheers Ken

Thanks for the info provided Krash. I will post a picture of the light performance at night in this thread once I install it.

From what I have read online and JPCycles (USA)  information the genuine HD are made by J.W. Speaker. May be the LED globe is is CREE.

Thanks heaps for your info BBYHD , I was thinking parking light is DRL. Much elaborated explanation. Its very clear now. And I was under the impression I got a wrong headlamps. I think what I paid, $65 (from Amazon) as against &600+ for HD genuine lights,  I am more than sure I can live without the parking lights :-).
Now I am confident and I will definitely put some electrical tape around the parking light and put them behind the day maker lights. This is the exact information I needed. I was not sure what t do with these loose wires :-)

suspect that the Hog Lights and Moto Lights local sellers also do not have a parking globe provision (I'm pretty sure I contacted one of them at one stage and asked and this was the feedback I received).   But they are also 300$, cheaper than HD, but you can buy 5 ebay ones for the same price (which I would suspect come from the same factory anyway)

I think you are spot on. And I can see lot of people have installed Sunpie and Wisamic head lights and posted videos of the lights in youtube.
    Thanks again BBYHD.

    Thank you!
May be next time. I installed the one which I purchased. I must admit this one with Halo looks good.
