McCain didn't play the politics of populism just the politics of policy and that's what hurt him politically in a landscape like Obama who admittedly was voted in on charisma .
Choosing Palin as a running mate was a death sentence inevitably.

Your right Pauly, Obama blows me away every time I hear him speak. He has composure, level-headedness, intelligence, compassion, unbiased clear perception.

Yes agreed, charisma is the end result - I think it comes from the combination of all the qualities I mentioned.
Among many other things, he travels the world now on speaking tours.

True but if you look beyond the results he had lots of detractors not wanting the policies to succeed. Its like our system regardless of the government, which ever party has a good idea you ALWAYS get the opposition shouting it down instead of recognising and acknowledging a good decision for the better of the country , we will never progress with this constant squabeling
