    something differant

put it together today, a laser engraver/cutter, A20 Pro Atomstack
20w laser (4x5w) does a good job for the first time used, I spun the test wood around and played with the speed and power to look far a great setting, also got the cylinder accessory so I can engrave glasses
could be an earner if I get good at it

Drove 250 kms with 2 other blokes yesterday to help with a fire in rocky scabby paddocks and native cypress scrub, about 5 sq kms. All OK once a D8 ran a firebreak around it, although the D8 needed a fire truck guarding it along the way and 2 pontoon Ag Cats flying overhead cover when it was near the hot stuff. Wanted to get pics of the Ag Cats on their bombing runs, spectacular, but we were too busy when they were close enough for a good pic. We mopped up around what became the tail of the fire after a 90° wind shift. Can see the smoke plume of the head of the fire a few kms away. Drove 250 kms home, had a beer, passed out.

Way down close to Inglewood, Oman Ama. Local crews had been on it for a day and a half, so they were pulling in crews from all over. It was billygoat country, should have had a cool fire put through it 2 years ago.
Response seemed a bit out of proportion, but I looked a bit further on the map on the trip back. 5 km down wind on the original fire direction is a mine, and a bit past that the site where they're building the world's 3rd biggest wind farm.

Got emailed a pic from last week. Not our truck in it, but shows how low the planes were operating. It's a spooky feeling when they turn on their sirens - very loud ones - when overhead.

Done a cook yesterday, Orange and maple syrup ham, pork ribs and some shotgun shells, the crackle on the ribs was a bit light on so touched it up with the gas burner, and the crackle mouse (missus) started stealing it off the top
