Legal or Not

Gidday all ... Have a set of Bag Blades on my Road Glide ... They are incredibly bright ... Running and Brake light as well as flashing Amber indicators ... As well as the functioning Tri Bar light at bottom of fender ... and am keen to remove the rear light bar and replace it with a curved number plate holder that has a number plate light built in ... Would really clean the rear end look up a lot I reckon ... Would it be illegal .

Looks excellent and yeah, ditch the blinkers. Download your local ADRs but for here in SA I reckon they be legal, long as you have a light over the number plate.
    What exhaust are you running?

Gidday Ratbob ... Will definitely give the ADR's a look at ... currently running Freedom 2 into 1 Turnouts ... Seems they are a bit of Love them or Hate them amongst the Touring world .... Some Traditionalist aren't keen on doing away with the 2 into 2 out the back style ... Which I totally understand ... But every one is different hey ... What do you think .

Wow, that’s nicely put together. Pipes do it for me and perfect for that clean rear look. I’d have them on my Dyna but they turn out too far for a bike without panniers.
Reason I asked about pipes is I’m thinking the boys in blue are more likely to get you on noise than a technicality on lights.
    Cheers

Hi guys ... Have checked ADRs ... They say at least 300 mils apart ... No higher than 1.2 mtr from ground and no lower than 300 off the ground ... If I read it right .
Loopie ... Take your point about curved plate , although the curve is very small but might be right about cameras ... Won't be getting rid of indicators ... If you have a look at top of bags under lids they are actually flashing Amber  indicators , Red running lights and Brake lights ... LEDs and heaps brighter than the standard light bar ones .

Ratbob ... Yeah the pipes choice is a gamble , but touch wood , so far so good .

Me thinks you worry to much. Chillax. If it looks cold, good like it is meant to be like that you won't have a prob. I've been riding my Cross Bones 2008 for years with a curved sideways number plate place just behind the clutch cover and no indicators, hand signals only. I've only been pulled over for random breath test and I ride between Brisbane and Melbourne at least 6 times a year. No Probs. Your bike looks that good they won't be trying to pic faults they'll just wish they had one. Probably give you the thumbs up. And if you do happen to be the unluckiest rider in Oz and get done, just bodge up a legal set up, get passed, then put it back how you want.
    Fuck em
That's my so far (56 yo) philosophy

Not a bad Philosophy to have there Liam ... Not so much worrying to much just good to get a General cross section of opinions ... And like you say if I do it correctly not only will it look like it was meant to be plus should be a pretty easy  to change back .
Although I don't know if it is my Fat Old hands but those 2 half inch bolts that hold the Light Bar on are a effing pain to get out without removing the rear wheel I tell you .

Last Discisson to make is wether to go with the curved plate holder that has the LEDs that only illuminate the plate or go with the one that has the built in running lights and Brake light and also the Amber flashing indicators as well of course the number plate light .

As I already have the bag blades that do all of that plus the Tri Bar light that is wired for running and brake as well I am leaning towards the one with number plate light only ... Either one from Custom Dynamics look trick .

Gidday Oilleak ... Know what you mean ... Pretty comfortable that I have all legal bases covered anyhow .
Balofski ... Thanks for your feedback , had this one for bit over a year now ... Went through a crazy self doubt thing couple of months back and nearly sold it to buy Road King Special , as I have never had a bike with a fairing and it was doing my head in , Lol ... glad I didn't as I would have lost literally 20,000 plus ... That's when I decided to go with the Stretched bags and fender look and am glad I did .

Can't fault the motor .. So Far .. Lol ... And now with the Legend suspension front and rears ... Feels like a transformed bike .

Just deciding which number plate holder to go with ... Don't want to butcher any of the wiring ... Have been looking at a company that has Harley electrical plug ends ... Namz I think they are called ... If my research is correct I can wire up the Custom Dynamics curved plate holder that has lights built in with one of their plugs and plug straight into OEM wiring harness ... Will really clean up the rear end by getting rid of the OEM light bar ... Will see how I go .

Will that be the end of spending on this one ... Unlikely , Lol .

TJU, you have one bloody great looking motorcycle man. I have 2012 RG, and have had a coupla Honda VF1000 with similar fairing design, which is different, but, in saying that can be a natural feel after a while. I love em, and your red is spectacular, I love it. Has boxes ticked , but sure you will find more boxes to tick. Impressive and Good one TJU.
