I notice that the AFL are breaking with tradition and have endorsed two muslim players who will join their captains for the coin toss. This is as a result of a politicians maiden speech last week. Should sporting codes be involved in these sort of protests....any thoughts

The AFL already do, Indigenous round, Multicultural round and with the LGBTILMNOP. But no they should not as the give the impression they represent all AFL players and supporters.

NRL have Indigenous rounds too also all girl teams. I watch both codes and enjoy both. I don't care how they toss a coin just do it quick!

They should keep politics the fuck out of it in my opinion. I am sick to death of getting belted with some sort of fucking message (including advertising disguised as content) in pretty much anything I might try to watch these days, I can work things out for myself thanks.
True equality means treating everyone as equal, just that. Not this bullshit of making a big deal about someone because they're from a minority group of some sort, or female. We give ourselves a pat on the back and get a warm fuzzy feeling highlighting how we're treating minorities equally by shining a fucking spotlight on them.

And thanking the traditional owners every time there's any sort of official event or opening (even just local stuff) gives me the shits as well, rant over.

Yep, we want free speech, just as long as it agrees with what we (the mainstream media and the professionally offended on social media) want you to say.

Sport shouldn’t be hijacked by politics as a vehicle to voice a message, but sport is the great equaliser that should remind us that regardless of colour, sex, creed, win, lose or draw - we all shit in the same place.
