Fathers got an old 92 lowrider. Only 26k on clock. . Stored for 20 yrs. Too big for him now. Is there any interest in bikes like this anymore. I was not sure if id want it but was worried no one would be able to fix it or want to these days. Not sure what it would be worth either. Any help would be good

that's an FXR, they where a good frame plenty still being ridden. easy to work on parts still sold. looks like shocks too short but everyone to his own.

Mate, I"d buy something like that as is all there, and can make things to your own.
What if I may ask is your father riding now, if at all ?
A lotta warmer climate positioned dudes go scooters.
If he selling I'm interested if all cool.

Very weird timing, ive been looking for another one. Ive got an older FXRS and have been looking for either a project/rough one to rebuild or a decent one.
That falls in the later category.

Those that know, like em, lot of people dont rate em.

FXR is time proven , one of the best handling HD . people in usa are now looking at FXR , the last was 1994 then they made new batch god knows when , I dont keep up with the HD news ....

thats the scary bit ....24 yrs ago

I recon hold on to it , Evo is already classed as a classic according to amca =1984 . that bike is low km and close to original . theres some who keep bikes factory then some who chop its down hill from there .

a fork brace kindve says extended forks . the angle of swing arm against pipe suggest short shocks

Don't give it away Franky! I would ask 30k as not on showroom floors now.
with rear so low & front Stock FXR Sport, steering would be slow, so handling not what it could be. the stock 80 EVO never impressed me enough to sell my Shovel, at the time. as Shovel ran in 11's quarter mile, the FXR would be 13's stock with average rider ( my shovel was not stock ). they are still rubber mounted motor so they handle ok but would need a stabiliser to stop forward to rear movement. thats why I went rigid mount motor sporty, they handle better than the FXR.

Why stop at 30? Shoot for the stars and ask for 90k!

    Good on ya John!
Now, I won"t be able to pickup a ride I really want this time round, for less than 90K, or 100K by the time I'm ready..LOL

Haha nah you'll be right. FXRs are pretty cheap at the moment. Couple of nice ones around! If ya need a steer let me know. Im a bit upset this ones on the wrong side of Aus.

I’m biased because I own a 1992 FXRS, but it’s a good bike. The forks look stock but are they Progressive 412 shocks? Looks lowered. Take it back to the original 13.5 rear shocks, get those long pipes off it, and you will discover why the FXR frame geometry impresses anyone who likes to lean in.

if was me, I would not pay 30k, probably pay up to about 12k . if was going to 90k I'd go Panhead!! ( only big twin I would buy!! ) but I would have the S&S Panheads EVO hydraulics' in valve train, stock Pan cases. stock 65 Pan frame.

That was sorta my point haha, nobody will pay 30k either so no point asking for it. People are barely paying 10k for em now.

Yep, ain’t no such thing as a good looking FXR, while strong, the rear end was definitely designed by a leaderless committee of engineers :)

FXRs look good as Pro-Streeters. With the subject of the original post, I'd get some decent suspension, detail it and ride it.

You mean the rear end and everything else was actually designed by engineers?! Erik Buell led the re-design. In the function over form debate you can’t fix function but form is an easy cosmetic job (the FXR benefits from tapered seats and taillights)
