From Newcastle, new to Road Bikes and Harley's. Jumped in Feb this year, yeah it's a 2018 Iron. A good bike for short A's like me..
I came here looking for a solution to a slight problem I have with my "odometer gear position number" which has disappeared since a recent service. I suspect the Clutch Cable has been adjusted without any free play in the Cable. Which slightly Disengages the clutch, not good for the Clutch but also cancels out the "odometer gear position number' (The number normally disappears when the Clutch is pulled in).

    Anyway, keep looking.

Thanks Mate, that's encouraging. I adjusted it last night and will take it for a ride this arvo to test my theory

Well I adjusted the Clutch Cable, gave it about 2mm free play. Got 1st gear indicator working but the other gears are a no show. Adjusted some more both ways and lost everything again... must be touchy, can't find anything online on how to adjust.

welcome iron, enjoy your time here, lots to see and learn.
2 things to my thinking.....2018 should be under warranty.
if this fault occured after service its a repair/adjust fault .
i'd be back having a chat with the dealer.cheers

Welcome Iron 883, last I checked can adjust clutch at the clutch centre of pressure plate, but can also do minor adjustment via cable bottom of frame primary side, think 9/16" & 1/2" open spanners  ( or two 1/2" as they lock adjustment ) not hard I do mine as like it set a bit different. just make sure some free play in cable. with gear counter? I've never had a Harley with one so can't say. enjoy your new ride!!

Thanks Krash, yes that's right 1/2" & 9/16" spanners.. I had a bit of a muck around. Also saw on youtube where you should have between 1/16" & 1/8" (1.5mm to 3.0mm) free play measured at the lever. Got the number indicator to respond.. 1st came back... so I think it is something in the adjustment.

Thanks imoo, I should have bought local... live and learn. I normally would but it's a big operation getting it back up there on a weekend leaving it a week and bringing it back...

Welcome to the forum - a wealth of info on here & a good laugh also.
You mention leaving your bike with dealer a week? Would have thought they'd fix it on the spot once you've pre-arranged it? Nice 250k's ride up, have a pub lunch while they adjust it, nice ride back home in time for dinner.

Thanks Wideglider, sounds good mate... if they worked weekends...
I just spoke with ol'mate the Mechainc. He is blaming the Stage 1 upgrade tuning... They might need it a week to sort it out:)

Iron , has the dealer got a Dyno? But doubt they would custom map. still dyno good way to check the update ( what ever changes that has made ).
Just went back re read your post. not a tuning issue so no worries. I've never owned a bike that told me what gear I'm in, one down & four up, but I love one up four down. I might put a shift leaver from Sputh that fits on the spline backwards so it goes over derby cover, have to mount a braket to hold foot peg at rear of primary. sorry for raving on. I would not worry too much about that problem. as not going to hurt the bike. could not see it taking long to fix.

I know mate, never had a bike with it either. Got a bit used to it, I suppose... I might be a bit ocd about it :)
