Hey Stevo,  I will follow this post as I was hoping to do Uluru either 2019 or 2020, I am on NSW central coast at moment. But never know, might be up Qld by then if house sells.

Late last year the board of the Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park announced that the climb up Ayers Rock would be officially banned from October 26, 2019. Parks Australia and the board argue the climb needs to be closed for safety and cultural reasons.

Piped me to the post Stevo. I was thinking August , but the First week of April could work as I'm off around the the 29 th of March, it takes me a few days to recover from the red eye though.
    But I'm keen.

OK Fella's lets keep this as the official post for the time being!

(And many thanks for taking the time to reply)!

As I've mentioned previously, loose on dates, but happy to fit in with the majority.
Some people have mentioned temperatures at that time of year:
Below is:High's, Lows, Humidity and Rainfall ...so April looks a lot better than March rainfall wise!

    March    30.5    23.0    78    424
    April    29.2    21.5    75    197
    May    27.5    19.5    77    99
    June    27.8    17.6    74    49

Like trying to organise anything, flexibility is the key!

Key Goal: Ride to Ayers Rock 2019...as Sonny suggested a loop ride would be fantastic! But as the map points closer to Adelaide I'd be tempted to head straight for the Barossa or McLaren Vale "love my reds"! So as a side bar early in discussion can we hook east and perhaps include Canberra on the way back? Been wanting to do the War Memorial for a while now? Been over 20yrs!??

    Going forward:

    A) How many would be interested in April?
    B) Brisbane, GC, [or any one south of GC].and Sunny Coast riders would meet in Ipswich!
    C) For our Far North or Central Qld Brothers we could coordinate a meeting point? Maybe you leave a day later???
    D) 3 o'clock is Beer O 'Clock!...lol on the ride!..maybe 4pm..but no later!  Lol...
    E) Don't mind if you don't have a Harley ?[More the merrier, open to comments on this point]!
    F) If we get a decent number of riders Ayers Rock 2019, do you think we should try for a Charity Style ride? T-Shirts/Sponsors etc???
    G) Happy for any others to join in on the way!

Let me know your thoughts on the above?

Cheers and Beers [and a few Red';s]

    Steve

April the 19th is good Friday, so maybe not a great time crowds, cops & accommodation wise, but the school holidays may suit some folks. Just thought I would mention Easter before we lock in April.
I'm up for a detour to Canberra, ANZAC day is the 25th.
Emerald would work as a hook up spot, pretty central for everyone, then Longreach for the Qantas museum, then onto Mt Isa etc.
Also need to work out if people are free camping, caravan park camping, motel or pub camping, or a combination of them.

For me it would have to be free camping one, two or three days and paid accomodation on the  third or fourth days, just to keep the costs down.

    Hi Ken

Valid points I never considered! [Holidays, Easter and Anzac Day]. The later being the only one I respect personally!
Would appear a number of people view the topic, without comment [my apologies who have], So I assume its only a few of us prepared to commit at this early stage???

As stated previously, I'm flexible on making a decision...until November...then I'll have to lock something in.

If you want to go May/ish  that too can work!

Like all these things, difficult to make final decisions without people to commit, [no that I'm having a go...but grow a pair!]

If we have a loose number I'm sure we can cut a deal with accommodation that nobody's is left in the car park...lol

So I get back to my A-G??? [questions]

    Cheers and Beers

You might find this hard to get off the ground, as everyone might want a different start time.

Just pic a date, give plenty of notice and people will make the effort to join you

if not, you might pick up some people from different states??    who knows

    good luck with it

I think the plan at this stage Kiwi is to get an idea on who is interested and get an idea on when to go. May is out for me as I rejoin the boat around May the 2nd and due back home about the 6th of June.
Around 22 August would work for me Steveo, hows that work for you Benno ?

I was planning on about a two week round trip, it is 3811 km if I go via Emerald. 700 km per day equals 5 1/2 days, 600 km per day equals 6 1/2 days.
You could do Brisbane to Emerald in a big day on the bike.
Brisbane to Emerald is 880 Km via Roma and about the same via Biloela which might be the way to go if north coasters are joining up. Been that way and isn't a bad ride.
The point is you can be in Emerald in a big day or two if going easier.

Personally I would rather do around the 600  to 700 Km a day and do a little bit of sight seeing along the way, ie the Qantas museum at Longreach etc.

What time frame were you thinking off Dan ?
    Cheers Ken

Yeah I was there a couple years ago and talking to a couple of rangers they said all the walks would be shut down in 2020 not just the rock climb..
Its getting too dangerous with people being rescued all the time..
So if you wait till 2020 your gonna miss out on a few things..  They are doing some major works there trying to come up with things to replace the climbs and walks (not all walks will be shut) like camel rides and helicopter rides. But if you want to climb it do it next year

    I'm following closely..
As I said I did the Rock couple years back from Melb
    we did 650 days
We got stuck in some hectic weather aquaplaning
If ya wet as a shag a 650 day is not pretty and will leave you with no time for fancy stuff (scenic tours and window shopping)
You have about as much time as get ya gear dried get a feed and get a couple drinks before ya staring at ya eye lids..
Or am I just getting old?
I will not commit but might be keen on a meet up somewhere
Anyone else from Melb considering this trip?

Hey Ken,  Qantas museum I am not fussed about, went through it in 2012 But Stockmans Hall of Fame is a definite, need about 2 hours to have a reasonable look.  600km to 700km a day is easily done, including sight seeing.  I don that towing a trailer around Oz in 2015.  Prob August better suite Myself, But I could do April.  I am in process moving from NSW Central Coast up to Hervey Bay in the next 4 weeks. So would meet Ken at Emerald.

Stevo, To keep you away from the Barossa Valley. I suggest once  you  head South from Uluru to Port Augusta, head up to Broken Hill, ( can visit Silverton) nice Pub there. Then Cobar, Nyngan, Dubbo, Canberra,

Ok Steamer, another one for August, meet up in Emerald.
Well I can do Qantas and you can do the stockmans hall of fame. :)

We are all getting older Beefa :(
That's why we were thinking 600 or so kn per day. That isn't to bad when split into 4 stints.

    Cheers Ken
