stuff em, when does a brickie get handouts like them if they have lean times, or a cleaner, or plasterer or coffee shop

sit on massive land lots worth $$$, they dont save any money for these times

pull out in front of you on every country road

Come on Robots thats a bit harsh mate. The Aussie farmers deserve a bit of love and support , country folks are proud good Australians that have worked harder than you and i could imagine. I am proud to help them in what ever way i can

None thankfully. I have no need for the type of vehicle they were producing when the lights went out.

There was a solution, they shut up shop because they could not sell cars. Problem over

Please point me in the direction as to how you arrived at that conclusion or is that your perception, and as we all know perception is reality for some.

Not everyone can afford to buy just Australian...It's a catch 22,the more people that buy Australian the less the products are going to cost but will the farmers get any more?? I don't think so,the fat cats will get fatter and the farmers will get the same.. If Dick Smith was genuinely concerned about Australian only he should have opened up an Australian only supermarket so when people stepped inside they didn't have any other option than to buy Australian.Even if this was for only 6 months he would have had an idea of how serious people are about supporting Australian. What about clothes? Can you even buy clothes in Australia that are not in some way manufactured overseas..As for as keeping Aussies in job's,there are some that will never want to work and they are teaching there kid's and grandkids how to follow that path. Can someone also please explain the billions of $ that are sent oversea's in foreign aid and how do we benefit from it.

Answer totally lacking specific  details not sure why you bothered to respond. Point one...give me a product we can but cheaper not just we need to look around. Point two..refer to point one. Point three seems to be the same generic find it yourself answer. As for the work question 14.5 % of our workforce are either unemployed or what the government term as employed (1 hr per week) getting some form of benefit that you alluded to so how are they going to pay a bit more for Aussie products that you admit are more expensive than the imports. We are fighting a loosing battle sadly. Like you Rodders i love this land but reality is staring us in the face.

there are  lot of corporate dairy farms around here, some are oz based investment corps...but quite a few are o/seas corps[mainly from nz.] and most if not all are managed and staffed by home country people.we service a few of these farms and every 6 months or so you see new staff, probably ran out of work visas, not a lot of work for locals on these farms.

I'm at work at the moment, we have jars in the shop and wet mess to donate loose change, they fill daily for the farmers lot of people on board to support. if we raise 10k the 'big chief' will match it also.

One the shopping local and support farmers we have a outlet called Spud Shed in WA very closely aligned with straight from the farm, veg's, dairy, meat, puts the big players to the blade on price, also 24hr shopping there.

Thanks for the reply Rodders...yes I do buy Australian when it is available at an affordable price..You have really only expanded  and reiterated everything that I said above...I did a little research and actually found an Australian only supermarket in Brisbane(there may be more) so good on them. At least there profits are hopefully staying in Australia and not heading back overseas as is the profits from Australian grown Cosco sold pickled onions.
    Cheers...

I have made a small invention and will be selling thousands of units in America and across the world soon.
The government has been all over me with money, support through programs, soft landing into USA, introductions to oversees company's and so on.
Our government is saying there getting the unimplyment down, this can not be easy when faced with competing against China India on a production level.

I'm just saying I am very small but I am exporting from Australia to the world and the government is right behind me all the way

Rodders these discussions are never taken as a personal crack and hopefully you acknowledge the fact that the replies are not intended to offend or disrespect an opposing view. The retort is intended to spark the opposing view into thinking about a different perspective.
You mention team in your reply, i do concede that there is no "I" in team , but there is "Me' LOL

It's okay to say buy Australian but finding it is the hard part, supermarkets could help if they wanted by simply putting an Australian flag next to the price tag of Australian products like they had some pride in selling it. Make the choice easy and people might make the sensible one for the country, after all who wants to go through every brand of what they want trying to read where it comes from, I know most manufacturers mark it on the packaging but not all clearly. Foreign aid to countries in crisis are a world obligation I have no objection to but the fact we do it over and over to the same countries with little accountability for what it's used for has to stop as it seems they are taking the extra money for granted and are not using it to build a future where they don't need it, but Australia is in crisis and that money should be channeled into farms here and into projects to secure and store water against future droughts. Only through building prosperity here can we ensure the ability to help other countries in crisis and if they cant see that and demand the money should be biven to them then sorry but fuck em.
