Nothing against tailor made stuff but why wouldn't you go into a dealer and pick off the shelf any one of a hundred different styles and shades of HD jackets with liners and riding armour already built in. You get to see the quality up front and it'd have to be lot cheaper than spending a K on made to measure
thanks for that speedzter, I have heard that the quality had slipped as most of their stuff was imported now and not made by them. Think I best give them a ph call and find out as it will be a road trip to Melbourne to get measured
well steelo not all of us have off the shelf type bodies
There is a place in Adelaide called Walden Miller that do leather jackets. so they may get my money now
Stagg Jackets were another Melbourne brand. I still wear my Stagg jacket now, was given to me by my old man about 30 years ago and he had it for probably 20 years before that! I had it re-lined about 10 years ago, leather is still in good nic
So with my non off the shelf body, I went to get a new motorbike riding suit, and went to a dodgy tailor. The tailor put me on the platform surrounded by mirrors, takes all my measurements, and says “OK, come beck in a week, I'll have your suit ready.” A week later I went back. “Here’s your suit,” says the tailor. “Well, I’d like to try it on,” I say. I go into the dressing room, take all my clothes off, and start putting on the suit. It’s all but impossible to get into the thing! Finally, I get it on, come out, and get up on the platform again.I looked at myself and say to the tailor, “This suit is terrible! Look at this! The jacket sleeves are so long they’re flopping! One sleeve is longer than the other, the shoulders are so narrow I can’t even breathe! The pants legs are baggy! But at the same time squeeze my hips!” “Wait a minute,” says the tailor, interrupting me. “Here’s what you’ll do. You’ll go like dis…” And the tailor shows me how to hold in my sleeves, hunch up my right shoulder, pull back my left arm, bend over, tuck in the baggy pants with one hand, all at the same time, to “make it fit”.A few minutes later I come out. I was hobbling down the sidewalk, trying to get to my bike while still holding my sleeve, hunching my shoulders, tucking the pants, etc, etc.I saw two old ladies waiting for a bus across the street looking at me.“Hey!” says one of the ladies, shaking her head in pity. “Look at that poor crippled man!”“Yes,” says the other lady, also shaking her head. “But doesn’t his bike suit fit nice!”
