Twin Cam ADVICE CAM UPGRADE

Hi guys,
I am running a 2005 TC88
Stage 1 air cleaner
Stage 1 map (single use cartridge download)
Samson true duals with cones and baffles.
All else stock in the motor - 30k kms.
Bike runs great and smooth.
As the kms rack up I’m increasingly concerned with the dreaded spring loaded cam chain tensioners failing.
I was looking at doing the kit :- SE or S&S new cam plate, oil pump , cam chain and hydraulic tensioners to put my mind at ease.
However I now have the opportunity to get a great price on a SE cam plate, oil pump S&S easy start 585 cams and gears from a mate.
Thus running up rated geared cams instead of a chain.
My questions are....
Can this be run on my Stock TC88?
What else would I
need
? Other than a tuner to re map
What can I expected in return ?
Is it worth it over the other upgrade considering running stock springs, rods, barrels etc etc
TIA

Yes, your running a year model that will be potentially exposed as far as crook tensioners goes.
Your crank runout will determine whether gear driven cams are an option, or not.
Either way, at 30k I’d be getting a kit in there regardless.
Get your runout measured and decide which way to go.

The S&S 585 wont be usable in an 88 with stock compression.
It all depends if you want more power or just reliability .
It would be a good time to change Cams if that's the way you want to go.
The stock spring loaded tensioner's aren't as bad a people say, they just need a bit of TLC !
Now if you have a bit of mechanical ability, it's a pretty easy job to remove the cams/plate/pump and replace the tensioner pads.
There is an upgraded pad available from Cyco, and they have been proven to be very reliable (check link below)
It will cost you maybe $100 in parts.
Throw in a set of Andrews Cams/lifters/bearings for another $5-600 or so + the cost of a tune.
Nothing wrong with the stock Cam plate or oil pump.

+1 on this advice.
I had my 2001 TC88 checked at 28k while having a service done and the tensioners had bugger all wear.
It effects some and not others.
I left them in until I did a cam, heads and 95" build on the engine, then had the pad replaced with the newer, better version.
I wouldn't bother with the gears personally.
S&S 583's or SE 204's might be better cams if you want to stay stock compression
