Running lights/indicators on 97 Dyna

Hi All, my brother in law from over the ditch is having a prob with front indicators on his 97 Dyna. He posted this on a bike forum over there but hasn't had any luck with answers so with a bit of Trans-Tasman rivalry (think All Blacks vs Wallabies, Warriors vs.....oh never mind..)  thrown in I'm wondering if any of you can help?
'on my 97 Dyna Harley Davidson, the front indicators are running lights as well, but last owners cut the running light wires, but the only way they will work as in blink is if you join the two live wires which also makes the two filaments light up as well. Any other combo and they don’t blink, I’ve also replaced the turn signal module which was blowin. So now when I go to wire up a set of new indicators with running lights, same watt and with a 3 wire, I get no blinking, they just light up, and when I swap them back to the original indicators they blink again.... I’ve tried all the combinations you can possibly try with the new indicators as well., any ideas...'

Sounds like a "domestic" that is USA spec bike. Look up the wiring diagrams for that and an HDI ( International ) bike and compare

As Retroman says "Sounds like a "domestic" that is USA spec bike".
Was the "turn signal module" he replaced for "International" models or "Domestic American" models? May be a different part?

Hi, my BIL confirmed the TSM he got was the correct model for his bike.
It seems at some stage the wiring loom has been cut & parts replaced. He found a faulty join, fixed that & now has it at this stage:
Update: had running lights wired up with indicators and both filaments going, and each filament dedicated to each task, but still indicators won’t blink, yet when the hazards were turned on they blink ok, so tried every combination until I bypassed the plug and just joined the two running lights together with a longer wire, and boom, indicators are on the own filament and no running lights, and they blink, so now just have to see once it’s running if the timing has fixed itself.
