Hey there I have an M8 that needs a little top up of engine oil. I’m running Amsoil in it, can I add a few 100mls of Penrite 5/40 full synthetic. Both synthetic so it shouldn’t matter regardless of viscosity range?

Idle it down? its barely showing on the dip stick so it probably needs a top up wouldn't you say?

In that case you'll need more than 100mls, on a reasonably new bike why not put the correct grade in it? I would take it back to the dealer and get them to top it up and note the amount of oil used for future reference (if it's still under warranty)

Being a new bike I'd use the same oils and not mix.  That's what I'm doing with mine.

To get the correct oil reading HD wants you to idle the bike for 2 minutes before stopping .
Do not add oil till you've done that.

Mate, is your bike still under warranty? I’d stick to HD oil for the duration of the warranty period; hate for you to have an issue and the dealer says non-HD oil is the issue.
Small chance issue but there you have it.

In the pic, she’s a 2018 Fat Boy 114 7500ks on it, make it $2500 and we have a deal. God damn it cost me 33 grand oh well easy come easy go......
it’s used bugger all oil. Had it’s first service at 1600ks now at 7800 just needs probably 3 or 400ml. Very acceptable for a new motor I think....... yeah? It’s just so close to its next service I don’t want to buy a 30 dollar liter of oil when I have this Penrite sitting at home.

You spent all that on a HD but want to save on oil? Buy a litre mate.
I’ve only got a 103 and doesn’t use a drop between services ... though every bike is different.

Top it up mate,  It  can be confusing if you overthink the oil thing.
Don't overthink it.  If you've been using full synthetic oil since the bike was new
and you top it up with mineral oil now there will be no difference.
I have no experience with the M8 engine .  Top it up
Do you know where the oil went?

Yeah that's what I think too, tah...... I read a long time ago that oils is oils, good or bad synthetic or mineral they all mix together just fine.

burnt it I guess, new engines burn a certain amount during the running in period or so I'm led to believe.
