Spare Fob Question

    Hi,
When I got my Sporty (2nd hand) it came with a spare key and imobiliser fob.

4 years later the Battery in the spare is buggered and even with a new battery it triggers the bike alarm.  Do I need to take the fob to the dealer to ahve them 'program' it back to my bike?

    Cheers

Make sure you have the right battery and have put it in the right way around first - common mistake.
Otherwise, presuming your fob isn't one with a button (the old style), I could be wrong, but I think these days you gave to go see a dealer.

    No.

the fix is this......take out the new battery, get a small flat screwdriver, and lever up the little H shaped metal contacts that the battery sits on. Refit and it’ll be all good.

You may be right but feel free to cram your no up your arse along with that crystal ball.

Fixed the current fob...that needed a new battery, so all good there.
The Spare fob is still broken even with a new battery so will pop into the dealership to see if they can resync it with the bike.

No crystal ball used, I had the same thing happen to my spare fob. Rang dealer and that is what was suggested instead of bringing it in.
Fixed it, so I shared the info. Might not be the exact same issue, my fix might not be the OP’s solution, but whilst we’re offering each other some personal advice Bonk, feel free to learn that a forum is an exchange of ideas

Ok...for chits and giggles I pulled apart the dud fob, bent the flat pins on the circuit board up, put in a new battery and voila it works perfectly!
Thanks for the idea, it works a treat.

Forums are a great way to share information, mainly our Harley Davidsons.
But, in saying that OzDan your avator is doing my neck in, good stuff.

My “No” was an answer to the OP’s question, not a go at Bonk’s comments. OP asks do I need to take fob in for re-program?
    Answer - No!

Then it’s crystal balls and anal insertions lol.......and respect is a two way street?

    Let’s move on.....
