    G'day all,
just recently bought my first proper road bike (have had dirt bikes before and still have a 125cc Monkey Bike) - a 1996 Sportster Sport XL1200S - and thought I'd introduce myself.

The bike had a bit of damage from a previous spill which I've spent the last few months fixing, but it finally passed blue slip last weekend!

My plan for the bike is to fit mid controls, lower bars, black out even more of the chrome and put some serious km's on it!

Gday Bud, and welcome! I like the sound of the upcoming mods, especially the lots of KM’s part :-)

Haha cheers, it's already got 50,000 km but I reckon I can improve on that!

[quote="kiwidave"]Welcome. Nice bike, you have a bit of a rarity there. Those bikes were only made for a couple of years and will be collector's items one day if they are not already.
The piggyback shocks and twin-plugged heads from the factory were their point of difference.
Just be aware, I recall reading that the ignition modules for those are almost unobtanium, so if yours ever does wear out you may be seeking an aftermarket alternative. Might be worth keeping an eye on eBay etc for a rainy day....  [/quote]

Thanks man. Twin discs up front, too!
From what I've read they only got the hot cams and twin plug heads in 98, and mines a 97 model according to the VIN. I didn't get the tacho either :( but I'm very glad for the upgraded shocks, cartridge forks and brakes.

I'll look into an upgraded ignition, any recommendations?

*EDIT* Hmm this forum doesn't do quoting with bbcode... can you quote multiple people in 1 message?
