Re-Installing 2016 Fatboy Lo jiffy stand......help please

So, I wanted to get a couple of parts powder coated black denim, one of them was the side stand, it was chrome, and I wanted it black.
In the manual it said simply to remove the pretzel clip, bushes and clevis pin after removing the spring. Well I could not get the fucking spring off, so I removed the floor board, and removed the floor board mounting which is also the mounting for the jiffy / kick / fucking side stand call it what the fuck you like, and took it across the city to my stealer, who took it into their workshop, where no human beings are allowed, and two minutes later handed me back the mounting and jiffy stand nicely separated with a fucking bill for $50.......

I went my merry way way off to the powder coated, dropped the stand and other stuff off for powder coating, reversed in to the biggest fucking lamp post you have ever seen in your life, dented the fucking rear bumper past repair and smashed the tail lights in, and went home.

Picked up the powder coated parts yesterday thinking that it can’t be that hard to reinstall the jiffy stand, the stealer mechanic is a weak cunt, so it’ll maybe take me a few minutes to figure it out and I’ll be done.......how fucking wrong could I be, Jesus, short of fucking welding the entire bike to the floor and attaching the spring to the back of a 63 tonne truck I can’t fucking stretch the spring even half way enough to get it back on.

I have used every web search engine ever invented by man and cannot find a write up, video or text instructions telling me how the fuck to get this back together. I have also searched every fucking HD forum and found nothing! There are lots of videos on remove and replace jiffy stand, but none about the type I have.

Can anybody help please, or am I truly stuck with the penny method!

Thanks guys. If I don’t get this sorted, something bad is gonna happen and I won’t take responsibility for it, the jiffy stand and spring came within an inch of their fucking lives a few minutes ago, and then the wife called me for dinner, grrr, I’m still in the garage taking deep breaths in case someone / something innocent gets it next.

    Hi Muzza
I haven't been on here in awhile, this may not help to much because you already have the spring off but if you put the stand down so the spring is stretched you can put 20 cent coins in the gaps and put the stand up and the spring will just come straight off leave the coins in and just do the reverse to put it back on. In your case you may be able to stretch a bit and put a few in at a time to get you in the range, good luck!!!!

I won't pretend to have intimate knowledge of the 2016 Fatboy Lo but I have removed and replaced a few jiffy stands.
I'm not aware of a lot of difference between models.
I have used a bricklayers tie, a piece of solid gauge wire, about 2.5 - 3 mm thick, which has a loop at one end and a hook at the other .
Or any type of tool which has a hook at one end and a substantial grab handle at the other end.
Fix the spring in place at the frame end and hook the other end and pull it down onto the tab on the swingarm.
    Really pull !
Make sure the bike is sitting pretty solid.
The spring is not under as much tension when the swingarm is up.
Try it with the swingarm up if you can't get it with the swingarm down.

without seeing what ya doin Im guessing you have bolted you side stand first , may be try taking bolt out hooking the spring to both the frame & ya stand then using the stand as leverage Maneuver it around to line up the bolt hole  hope I explained it proper cheers Gidgi

Thanks Gidgi, the stand does not bolt in, see diagram above, it uses a clevis pin (A), a bush(2) either side of the mounting bracket all secured with pretzel clip (3).  I have tried to re-install the stand with the spring attached and tried to do the same and attach the spring after the stand is installed. No luck!

So.....no fucking progress. Wife took the dogs, cats and kids to her buddy’s last night, stating that I was unstable and incapable and to call her when I was in a better mood, but that she might not answer. Seems she thinks that my life revolves around my fattie.....duh..she only figured that out now.....wtf, has she been living under a rock for the last 30 years? Has she forgotten the countless hours of fun we’ve had at the expense of the fattie!
Maybe I’ll call her next week, or month.

In the mean time I swear I’m gonna fuck the stand and spring up until they listen to me and cooperate!

I’m past even considering going back to the stealer.

Ok mate sounds like my Road king    set up, although I have never tried it, I was suggesting to place spring on both ends first, then locate the clevis pin into position that way you may get more leverage to stretch the spring, just a thought bud good luck

Now count to 10 man, deep breathes, and then, ok I forget, the then... "Tackle with, a hammer, a big fucken sledge Hammer, and if the cunt won"t fit go to Bunnings as they seem to have the answer to everthing, the fuckkas."
Only joking bloke, as you must analyis now, and then obtain required result.
BUT you taught me a lesson, never TAKE jiffy/side stand OFF unless you have a big fucken rock to put in place.wow

It’s all about the tools, you need a side stand spring tool, google it up, looks like a bail hook, buy a cheap one and mod it or make one from an old T socket. Get someone to sit on the bike, lean right and hold on the front brake then pull man pull.

    It’s fuckin on!
I won’t be taking that off ever ever again!

The coin method was what I resorted to!

Thanks for the sympathy, advice and moral support!

Now to get the wife and her menagerie back!  Haha!

Well done Muzza. I did think Mitch's coin method was a rather an ingenious idea.
