    Hi Fellas.
In a nutshell myself and my mate are taking our bikes across to the US by air freight mid July and we have been hit with a brick wall with regards to International insurance for our bikes. Motorcycle express Have said that currently the one insurance company (Dairyland) that does Insurance for foreign nationals touring through US and Canada has withdrawn and are no longer taking applications and that there are no more insurance companies left...wtf!!! I have been waiting for reply from Fernet as well. Is there anyone taking their bikes across and if so who are you insuring it through?
At this stage we might have to leave our bikes in Australia and hire. Something we didn’t want to do as we have invested a lot of time setting up our bikes for touring.

Must admit , I don't know anything about the expenses in shipping /riding a bike from Aus to the US..
You must be touring/riding for a good amount of time to justify the expense !!!   If I may ask, what amount of time do you plan on being in the saddle ???.....
A lot of guys here with experience in hiring in the US that could give advice , (tips and tricks), if it comes down to that.... Cheers ….

It's really not worth it... it's cheaper to hire a bike (under a $100 a day from Eagle Rider) and now that insurance isn't available there's no way I'd risk sending my bike and riding it.  I couldn't afford another $40,000 to replace it.

I took out insurance years ago on a “Triptique” with AA.....try them, it’s worth a call, big difference is you take it out and pay for it in Australia, and you can add your freight insurance both ways, but like I said, that was years ago, 1990/91 I think! Oh, they will also issue you with an international license but you need to make sure that you not only have USA endorsed on it, but have ALL the states included, or at least the ones you will be riding in.

Thanks Keith, will give them a go. Just got off the phone with Lions Group who are insurance brokers in Florida and they told me as of last week all insurance companies have ceased insurance across the US and Canada. Not sure why this has happened?
Looked at hiring, nothing left but Kwaka Vulcans and there’s no way I’m riding into Sturgis on one of those lol.

Change your route and start at Seattle. Sound Harley Davidson in Washington , Dwayne Cannady is your contact, he is the GM .They always have bikes and great people.

    Hey Pauly,
It’s complicated as we are staying in NYC for one week at the beginning and have flights accomodation paid with family. Logistical nightmare, but thanks for the idea.

We have been planning since August last year, only to have this shit happen. After asking the question as to why all International insurance has stopped, We got an email from Mike Mendez (motorcycle express insurance brokers).
    Hi Jack
It is a situation where carriers are looking for 5 million of unprofitable business versus 1.5 of profitable business. Idiots. Robotic self serving

I’ve been dealing with a bird called Phyllis through Fernet for the last month and looks like she finally found an insurance company. What a head f..k though as I have to take one year policy and have a fixed address in the US. Thanks Keith for the tip on Progressive insurance.
