That’s a good read. Crazy cool about the original owner seeing it, that’s awesome. And for the dude that bought it, what a great way to get to know the bike. That’s a hell of a ride.

Hehehe. I was just about to hit send when I remembered there was a Perth in Tassie. Still a decent ride but not the epic journey I had first though ;-)

He IS actually riding it back to Perth Western Australia. Strangely enough he sent me a text last night to say that he was hunkered down in a pub in Perth Tassie last night enjoying a steak and a beer and that he was happy with the bike, reckoned it was a real beast.

I love Guzzi's, I've got a '96 Centauro, which is a semi sit up bike, all is ok for the first 100 kays then it starts to hurt,  next time I have it on the bike lift I'm gonna try and raise the handlebars a couple of inches, I only register it for 3 months a year, around the time of the Victorians Spaghetti Rally at Edi Cutting, one day I'd like to get a mid '90's California with all the touring bags etc, carb model, a good Guzzi is an unbelievable ownership experience, I highly recommend owning one,

    here's the Centauro,

Guzzi"s are take or leave. I loved them.
Spag rally"s, in Victoria went to a couple , good fun. Guzzis are the agricultured motorcycle tractors, that are fun.
The Centauro was indeed a different line of Guttzi, which I did not own, but admired, nice lines, like ya exhaust, under the rocker covers valving, and and is MG colour, which had on my first LeMans.Bloody nice looker.

Is it contagious? Maybe i got too much time on my computer hands? Rather look at bike porn than pussy porn, does that make me weird>? Love both, but engines are so cool..

Well I hope it will be awesome for him.
After texting me from the pub in Perth (Tas) while he was enjoying a steak and a beer and singing the praises of his new Guzzi, he phoned me the next morning (yesterday)to say the bike had a flat battery and could I offer any technical advice?.
Well I told him how to find the alternator (a simple 2 minute job) to see maybe if a brush wire had broken or something else looked amiss. Also told him where the rectifier/regulator was and to check for loose wire etc. The sealed gel battery was only a year old and had been regularly on a tender so don't reckon it was that.
Must say it near ruined my day. Told him I would happily ride it to Perth W.A with confidence and he only made it a couple of hundred kays up the road to Perth Tas before the first problem.
    God I hate that.

Damn! Yeah, I’d be feeling a bit bummed out too. But it doesn’t sound as though it’s gonna be any sort of real trouble. He’s just learning a few things about the bike a little earlier than expected. All’s well that ends well.

Fuck mate! I could write a thick book about the ownership, adventures, miss-adventures of this bike. If I were to be honest in the writing of it ALL though I might just find myself behind bars.
Anyway, new owner has decided to ship the bike back to Perth from Melbourne. Where there is an excellent Guzzi dealership and workshop who will sort it all out in a jiffy.
I sold the bike cause I felt like I was getting too old for that style of bike, plus it was a heavy lump of a thing to get on and off the centre stand. The side stand was abysmal and I warned the new owner about using it.
New owner was smaller and older than me (much to my surprise) and I could see it was going to take him some time to get use to just manoeuvering it around before even riding it. So a trip across the Nullarbor was fraught with danger. Bike falls over, you have a busted spark plug etc.
At least he has told me of his plans and says he still loves the grunt of the thing , what a blast it is to ride and seems to harbor no ill feeling towards me.
Kinda glad he is not riding it all the way back.
Recently I bought a second hand 94cc husqvarna chainsaw, a big cunt of a saw.
It started right up first or second pull and just fell through the hardwood logs the seller had lying around.
It seemed good, owner assured me it was.
When I got home I realised it would not start when it was hot.
    It was fucked.
Should have tried starting it hot when I bought it.
The fucker who sold it obviously knew it was rooted and that shits me.
When I sold the Guzzi I believed it was all good to go, new owner seems to accept that thankfully.
No Steelo, not Steptoe or Arfur Daley here mate.

Life’s way less stressful if you’re up front about everything. I can’t handle the lies, bullshit and games some people feel the need to play. So yeah, if I’d sold it to him, like you, I’d be a bit bummed that he’s having trouble but I’d still be sleeping like a baby with the knowledge that it’s just a one of those things and I hadn’t fucked someone over.
