What sort of paint

Need to give a heavy breather backing plate a touch up as the paint or at least some of it is coming off. Was thinking after I clean it up and give it a wet and dry clean up. Maybe engine enamel ?? Would imagine it would get hot where it sits. Anyone done this before ?

goday binnsy, looks like white alloy corrosion ,used to get this on bus mirror brackets and to neutralise the corrosion we used a mix of lemon juice and vinegar if i remember right, cant remember the ratio, brush on let it sit a bit and rinse off ,ready to prime and paint. cheers

Might be just the photo mate. No corrosion that's just the bare alloy after I have taken to it with some wet and dry !!
    Thanks tho

No burning and seemed fine, I used it as it was an old can from another project, had it on a Dyna wideglide for about two years before I sold the bike. But if you don’t have anything laying around the satin engine enamel at Supercheap is only $17.
Back in the 70’s we’d use Dulux enamel gloss on engine barrels without any burning so use the engine paint if you’re unsure.

If its Alloy then an etch primer first and a black wrinkle paint as a finish.

Hahaha Dulux enamel fixed everything back in the day, timber bedheads, HD barrels.... No doubt full of toxic chemicals that made it bond like shyte on a blanket.

Good quality etch, possibly a primer before paint or powder coat might be an option worth thinking about?

Not a Spray painter or any kinda painter. though did Undercoat a Silver Ghost RR, under supervision from Old hand, as was an apprentice for major dealer, till, 3 months into app then said nah dun want arthritis like you guys... Claridge Holden 1974. Any way the good old fella"s taught me, and they were good for a brief 3months to work the base to perfection. They were cool. Sorry, I side line again. Now the base is where you comence and don"t be lacksadaisal, (IE: Slack in your work. and product shall shine. Anyone can do it, if mind is there..Very satisfying as I
know now..Hard Yakka, in a different way though.Hand and eye jazz..
Base , or foundation is what to build on. I built Towers Masts and Poles and shit, good base and step up from there. Guess same with us cunts...
Just read, and fuk I go on. All good though.

I can tell you the best way to treat it, but first you need to lick the area.  Let me know if it tastes salty or sweet.
