Front End Suspension Upgrade

Gents, looking for a bit of advise from those of you that have done the Race Tech Gold Valve and heavy rate spring upgrade. I done the install a couple of weeks ago and after the first ride I thought that the rebound was to harsh in the first part of the stroke. I would describe it as very chattery in /over patched road surface. I mean with compression and rebound at only an inch-two, its like riding stiff as fuck and its not enjoyable at all .At deeper sections of the fork stroke it rebounds quite well, Friday I adjusted the valve out to 3 turns and took 1/2 " inch of the preload spacers. The front end dive under braking is gone but I am still not that impressed with how harsh it feels in the first part of the stroke.
Anyone done a similar upgrade, not sure if I am expecting to much, I am a novice when it comes to suspension.

Benno, I played with fork springs and damping with Harley's for ages, had them working ok.
then I went to an expert, had him set bike up to my weight & bikes weight. it was perfect straight off. I'm just about to have another Harley I got. set up by same guy. but in Sydney. should be able to find someone. well worth it. I had race tech and gold valving, loved it. thats what I'm getting again.

Thanks guys, I am working with a suspension guy from the Sunshine Coast he has done few HD's before but no Wide Glides. We are thinking the rake difference is what we have been under estimating. Arron / Hilly thank you very much, will share your experience and findings with he guys that are helping me out, hopefully we can get it dialled in, will keep you all in the loop and share what we try and the results. This is why this forum is so good

Hilly, wanted to let you know, we changed from the gold spring to the blue one today on the emulators, adjusted it to 1.75 turns as per your advice. Used 15w oil, instead of 20w, am much happier with the front end now, it dives a little more under brakes than with the gold spring installed, still a lot less than the standard set-up though, but shit loads smoother in the choppy surfaces. Wanna thank you for your advice and a shout out to Aaron for posting the link to Hillys article on this thread.
I also would like to recommend Paul and the guy's from MPE in Caloundra to any of the forum members in SE QLD, I think there are a couple of guys here that have used their services already. Paul and the team were more than happy to take Hillys advice, when what had worked for other models didn't quite work for the wide glide. Thanks again Hilly, got the suspension and brakes sorted now, maybe time to add some more HP. Fuck where does it end, LOL.

Benno Benno, in your last statement mate..." It does not end", beside keeping active riding and sorting out, there is alway something new that "we" must have. I could write a fucken book on those that are searching. All bloody good fun though.
