What’s this and does it need plugging?

Hi guys. I had the bike in for it’s 8K service the other day. It got filthy on the ride home and so today I was giving it a clean when I noticed this clean thread hole. Could anyone tell me what it is / was and is it gonna give me any drama?

Have the same on mine, noticed after I changed pipes, just assumed it was thread base for OEM pipe bracket [no fluid leaks or anything].

Unless others can shed some light??

It’s just the fact that it’s clean (and not actually capped) that made me think it used to have something in there. But I’m feeling better already, knowing yours is the same :-)

Mate, know how you feel! I nearly shit myself when I saw mine.....the only other two exposed areas I have like that are above the air intake EFI manifold.
When I had the new pipes fitted there was a Bracket with two holes left [RHS] near gear box trim...I asked whey they didnt put the original bolts back in...answer too long.
Went to a local bolt shop and got some black anodized bolts to fill the holes....but they started the show rust....so got them ceramic coated in matt black [they dont do gloss]
and its worked ever since!  [Note he put that through on another customers job lot] His minimum is $60:00....charged me $5:00.

As a side bar issue to this topic [hope you don't mind me hijacking?]...Has anyone used the Chrome or Black bolt topper kits out of Asia????

You’d think there’d be rubber stoppers to pop in there or something. Just leaving thread exposed like that for any length of time is just inviting corrosion.

Could it be the hole where they removed the lean angle on a breakout.......lol
