I’m about to head off to the shop for the 8000km service. I decided to get it lowered while it’s there. Also going with a plate only tail tidy and a new rear tyre (250mm). What can I say? I’m excited   :-)

    Cheers Baz :-)
I got the bag from the local HD dealer and it’s been pretty bloody handy :-) As for the lowering.I’ve gone the cheap option and am just getting a lowering kit. I’m interested to see what it does to the ride ;-)

I'm sure you know the handling won't be improved.
Let us know how you go with the side stand.

    Dear B
Don't change the bike my friend. It looks fantastic now!!
RB is right, it won't improve the handling and may reduce the functionality of the side stand
I don't think it's even a case of form over function with the lowering and big back tyre, it'll be form "reducing" function in the handling department.
But having said that, I haven't had a breakout. I'm only going on experiences of mates.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Cheers for the heads up guys. Yeah, I didn’t expect it would make it ride any better but I’m ok with that. I like the way the fender follows the tyre closer when they’re lowered. Being my first bike, I wasn’t really after a sports machine. I’m happy to just cruise around on the drag bike ;-) I honestly don’t know how the guys on sports bikes stay alive. I’m sure I’d have put it off in the tress by now if I’d bought a more sporty model.
But the stand is a slight worry. I hadn’t considered that.
I’m due to pick it up shortly. And lucky me. It’s just started pissing down here :-(

I think the OP was looking for a cheaper lowering option. I don't think air shocks have ever fallen into that category.

Looks like you're pretty handy with a Brownie, mate. That's a great shot. The location looks like the underside of the South road extension. Like the B/outs. The ol' mate had a pearler before he caught the car bug again.

Guy, I’ve gotta say that I’m pretty glad to have found this forum. As I’ve said, I’m a total newbie when it comes to bikes and the advice I see on these pages is always solid.

Hilly, I didn’t quite get wet but it did piss down jus before I walked out the shop. So the bike got plenty dirty. I’ve just given it a quick wash. I’ll do a proper job in the daylight on Thursday.

Steelo, that’s exactly the reasoning behind the none air version ;-)

Winger. Cheers bud. I got right into the brownies a while back. These days I find the iPhone does a decent job and ya can edit and post within minutes of taking the pic. And yeah, that’s the spot alright :-) That’s a cracker of a bike you posted there. A lot of attention and more than a few $$$ sunk into that one ;-)

Baz. I’d have loved to go with air but I’m super happy with the cheapo option at this early stage. The stand isn’t too bad. I did ask them to only lower it the least amount the kit allows.

This pic doesn’t really do it justice but I’m happy as Larry with that tail tidy and love that fat rear end :-)

Cheers all for the input. I’m on a pretty steep learning curve :-)

Must confess the tyre looks pretty badass and the tail tidy cleans things up.. I guess we'd better organise a local ride for you one weekend
