    hi
Just out of curiosity for people all around the country, especially those living in bush area.

Yowie, the Australian version of Bigfoot, are they real?

Any personal (or friends/family's) experience? such as strange experience during camping?

I have an open mind. :)

I’m no stranger to the bush. reckon you would have a better chance of seeing one of the infamous panthers etc.

They are hard to spot in the wild, but once a year they gather in Sturgis

I had an experience 30 years ago in Yalwal state forest, west of Nowra NSW. A group of us had been 4WDing and we camped by the side of a river/stream one night. May have been Coolendel?.
Not sure now of the time as this happened such a long time ago, but we were all asleep in tents, and I was awoken at some stage by the river stones being crunched on by something.
Being a very light sleeper It didn't take much to wake me. Anyway this animal/thing I believe was a biped as it made the same sound a person does when we walk on gravel and/or stones.
I could hear it approaching the camp but I stayed silent trying to hear what it could be. You know like one of the guys going or coming back from having a piss as you do at night.
Anyway, whatever it was must have gone over to the fire we had made.
Then all of a sudden this thing made some loud noises and ran away. I reckon it burnt itself in the fire.
The noises sounded like, if we say "bah" "bah". Quite loud. It repeated this a few times as it scurried away into the bush never to be heard from again.
I called out to the bloke in the next tent if he heard anything, but he and everyone was asleep.
So make of that what you will but seriously and honestly it happened. I would even take a lie detector test on this one if it ever came to it.

I live in the bush and we hear a lot of strange noises from time to time.

Lots of crashing in the forest - Stealth Skippy's in the dark tripping over everything.

Lots of growling - Possums arguing over territory.

Honestly I have a better chance of a UFO landing in the paddock than seeing a Yowie.

Kilcoy in Qld is now the Yowie capital of QLD and are trying to bring international and domestic travelers to the area to boost tourism. Have we been punked here gents in order to stir up a bit of interest in the area?

Not "baaaaa baaaa" you ruddy fools. I think i Know what a sheep sounds like by now.
Ok so say it like this, "Buh Buh Buh" yep that is closer to what I mean it sounded like.
But nice try with the sheep joke. I like it.
Now go back and read my story again, substituting the new way to say it!

Well if it's a 60 zone and a cop tries to stop you just slow down, remember you don't need to outrun the yowie just the guy behind you.
