    Fellow suspension amateurs,
I recently had MPE in Caloundra install and adjust a set of Ohlins STX36 rear shocks on my FXDWG, the guys get all the details when placing the order, eg: length required, riding style, your weight, luggage etc. Ohlins set them with the correct springs based off the info provided, I rode up late last week and the guys installed them in about 1/2 an hour, set the preload , sag and made some course adjustments to the rebound dampening adjusters. Paul (the owner) gave me a really good overview of what to expect when making adjustments to the rebound dampening and an insight on how to dial them in to suit my riding style. For my trip home, I blew the hwy off and decided to find some twisties and hills to try the new shocks out, (for those around the SE of the best state in Aus) that meant Beerwah-Peachester-Woodford-Mt Mee-Dayboro Pub.
I ride this route quite a bit, and because it was a Thursday, I hit it a bit harder than I would on a weekend. Coming down Mt Mee towards Dayboro is rough as Fck and I usually swear at least once, came down smiling this trip. These shocks are friggin great, very smooth over rough roads (we have plenty of them), felt planted leaning in hard, was like riding a different bike.
One downside, I thought the rear shocks were the main source of all the clunking over the rough roads, pig's arse, most of it has been coming from the front forks, MPE now have racetech gold valves and springs on order for me.
I know there are higher end piggy back Ohlins available, but I think the STX36 model is excellent value for $1300 installed.
    cheers Benno.

I have just ordered some Nitron shocks from Suspensions R Us for my Street Glide. They want to know all the same info as you supplied. Will give my impression once they arrive and install them. Glad you are happy with your purchase

Same, ordered a set of R1 Nitrons. Install in 3-4 weeks. From all accounts they're as good as those Ohlins.

Hard to say PB, I am very happy with the Ohilins, I was tossing up Fournales or Ohlins. Cost was not the deciding factor, being in the middle of bumfuck nowhere and busting a shock with air or springs was the decider for me. For me Ohlins : known brand , long history of quality and performance, and as Cropsuster said, I hooked up with Paul from MPE and he knows his shit. He is doing my front end this coming week, race tech gold valves and springs. Each to there own. I also like to support the local guy.
