Upgrading my XR1200

Hi to all,
I've owner my bike for a few years now & think its about time I did an upgrade or 2,3, etc
I've purchased the correct tuner, done some research & have the up-rated primary assembly, K&N air filter, better flowing exhaust.
Now,
What I'm looking for is if anyone has fitted up-rated cams with pretty much stock heads.
If so what works & what doesn't.
Preferring not to machine the heads unless needed. So does anyone have upgrade cams suitable for my application?
If so I will need cam numbers to check if the're correct & price.
Thanks

Would a Buell exhaust be of benefit?
Just I'm limited on funds so looking for pre-loved items.

I don't think those mufflers are stock or original to the bike. Perhaps some of those shorter carbon fibre types would be nice.
My recommendation. DON'T CHANGE IT AT ALL. Relish the pureness.
Everytime I see one of those bikes, (and I don't see many) I love em for their originality

I actually have the Factory original mufflers as well.
They look terrible & make the bike way too quiet.
Only other mod has been turning the mirrors down. Still functional & legal.
Other thing is, the bike has road reg.
So I'm trying to keep the noise down but trying to get an improved power output.
I realise these are in conflict but with it not going to the track I cannot justify an all out power exhaust.

Cutting the stock system seems drastic & Im not that good, so I will remove it & file it with the other factory parts.
As for the look of what HD did.
It was functional. The Cat was hidden & it gave all-right performance.
Noting most track bikes will get replacement systems suited more for the various purposes required.
The factory mufflers look horrid, more like function that looked so bad you had to change them.
Some people have tried to up-rate them but they still look like factory-crap.

Just read this, I think, you might get a gain with pipes like SF as 15kg a lot of weight to loose ( power to weight ) also seems a bad move by HD at the time to put the XB Buell TB & Manifold that points upward, then put the fuel tank over the top. as the Buell only has a cover at the top so free breathing air kit. can you put a EFI Sporty manifold & TB on them?

An adaptation of the SuperTrapp XL system will give a more traditional look and allow you to tune with noise volume in mind, call them re fitment compatibility ,you my have to re work the headers but the benefit will be worth it . I used these on my old XR1000 ,excellent sound/performance and not cop bait.
Don't let your quest to tight budget get in the way of a economic solution, you would be better off waiting till your finance are more conducive to application. A custom tune is paramount.

Bub definitely looks tidier , it would be even better if the SuperTrapp cans could be fitted.[what were SuperTrapp thinking with the headers????]
Cheers.

I put a set of Termi slip ons on. They save a bit of weight, sound good and have removable DB killers but are not cheap (just under $1000 shipped to Australia).
I also have a set of the V&H black widows at home which I am happy to sell. The down side of these are they are LOUD, put out a lot of heat and rust quickly - sounds a great sales pitch I know but would rather be honest. I have also tried to quieten them down with some baffles in the mufflers which made them ok (ish). Do a couple of web search and see what you think. Check out http://www.xr1200ownersgroup.com
If you are interested send me a PM - i am away at the moment but will be home in a week. I am located in Sydney so there would also be a shipping cost

Quick update.
I ended up with a Dan Moto system. Off a 1200 Sportster.
But before everyone chines in, I had to make it work on the XR.
How??
The original placement of the muffler was directly under the XR footpeg so I added in a short custom pipe to push the muffler to the rear.
I also had to get extended leads for the sensors too.
This picture should help. (Sorry I left the cover off)
