    Hi Folks,
Looking for a new bike insurance. Harley dealer recommended QBE. They seem to be competitively priced but what is their service like?
Would love to hear some feedback from anyone who had to deal with them.

    cheers

vtsyrlin, I've used/use Swann on both my bikes and found them to be reasonably priced, pay by the month at same price, have increased evaluation without issue.
Haven't had to make a claim though - others may offer comment on that.

I can't comment on QBE but I've got my bike insured with Swann also.    Happy with the price,  the service and a good agreed value.   Never had an issue with them.

Had the pleasure of making a claim with Swann on my Ducati when I owned it.  $9500, plus $1000 for new helmet and jacket.  Claim was processed very quickly, and approved just as quickly.  I actually received a call from the case officer, to make sure that I had claimed correctly, as I had not claimed any gear - told me to check if there were any marks on my helmet and jacket - one small scuff on the helmet that was barely noticeable, and he said that he would get the money into my account.  I work in the finance and insurance industry, and would consider this experience with them to be top shelf.  Also find the pricing very competitive, in NQ anyway.

I've got QBE, found them to be good. I've had a claim and no issues.
I think your question is a lot like "which is the best oil". Everybody has different opinions and outcomes.

I’m with Swann too. Looked at QBE but their excesses are more than Swann too.

QBE ? Been with them for 22 years and no bike claims ever. All the cars and home and contents as well.

Couple of home damage claims from storms over 22 years , high excess and max claim amount. Took that on the chin like you do !

First and only bike claim , they would not let me appoint my own repairer...

( many years ago Shannons let me appoint my own repairer , that bingle was not my fault. 100% the other dude !)

Tried again and again to get "my guy" to be granted the repair , where I would have been 100% in daily control.

8 K's from my house , not 20+ like Frasers. I had no confidence in Frasers fixing my Springer front end !

That would not have been the case in Frasers where QBE said it had to go, I would not have been in the driving seat.

Big shitfight , and the Perth local insurance inspector would not let the bike go to "my guy" even after he went to inspect his excellent workshop.

The guy has a RAWS workshop subject to stringent Canberra bullshit to "comply" US ( and other !) imports

Long story short , as each "thing" , each car comes up for renewal, shifting to other insurers.

House and contents already moved to AIA , Commodore moved to RAC , bike will be with Shannons or Swann come May.

    Never claimed,
However price wise, I was with Swann was very pricey as most company’s for my age are (23) I heard Harley can get it cheaper through qbe gave them a call and saved $400 annually couldn’t believe it, covered for all the extras on the bike aswell. Shop around mate you will find the best deal

Got two quotes today for 2018 Fat Bob: Shannon: 660 vs QBE $515 (and QBE seem to have a better coverage)
    now time to read PDS's

Bit off topic but insurance story. Wife's car was in the panel shop recently for some repairs. She scrapped the wall going into the garage. Anyway, we used our own panel shop (wife works for local Repco and knows the shonks from the fair dinkum) but GIO tried their hardest to get us to use "their repairer" with a promised three day turn around. Knowing a bit about panel and paint I called bullshit. Took our repairer 3 weeks from approval to finish, which didn't worry us was we have a courtesy car, and the job is superb.
Anyway, talking with our repairer on picking up the car, we were told some insurance companies charge more excess at the time of a claim if you do not use their preferred repairer. Apparently it's in their terms and conditions. Budget Insurance was one they named as doing this. Anybody experience this?

I got a letter from MTA insurance the other day with a cheque for $266. Thought WTF???
It appears that they undertook a review of my "Equity Plus Insurance policy(EPI) and have decided to refund part of my premium because you may not have received the value we expected you to receive from your policy."
    Cheque did not bounce lol
    Anyone else had this happen?

Shannon’s absorbed Insure My Ride and assured me premiums would not be affected. True until the next premium arrived. A 22% increase in the previous year. I’ll be looking elsewhere.

My Wideglide was insured with Youi until 4 weeks ago when it ended up 2 metres deep in flood water in my shed. After a short phone call to Youi the bike was written off over the phone, no assessor, not even a picture of the damage. All they wanted was a picture of the VIN and rego number couldn't do the odo as the dash was buggered. Bike was collected 3 days later on Good Friday and the money in my account on the Tuesday. Had 2 separate claims for 2 bikes and they only charged 1 excess for both then also refunded the remainder of my policies.  I can't praise Youi enough, they've been great.

As for QBE, the house and shed are insured with another company which is under written by QBE.  All I can say at this stage is that the claim is currently being disputed as QBE have declined the claim. Let the fight begin.

Don't go buying a 2007 FXDWG or a 1993 Honda Dominator from Pickles Auctions in Townsville as they're both still full of water.

Have tried many Insurance companys. A lot depends on who you talk to over the phone in organising policy. I called a company for a quote and spoke to one person, then called back two hours later, stating the same details,  and received a huge variation of policy, beats me.
Anyway been with many companies, currently have house cars x 2 and my HD with YOUI.
The Policy line for HD Road Glide 2012, extra's 4K, for CMV , for $420 per year. Which I think is reasonable, although excess is a little high, but touch wood..

I have made a claim with QBE  and had no problems also find them to be the cheapest.
