what a lot of interesting opinions, here is mine... I am short, powerful and compact, lol.... anyways I have no trouble with my new 114 fatboy, put western burleigh bars on it as well and its even more comfortable... Now I have had a 1998 fatboy, 2004 fatboy, 2010 fatboy lo, 2016 fatboy S and this 2018 fatboy handles better than all of those previous fatties I owned hands down.. It leans way more than all the previous models, in fact it takes a lot more to scrape the boards on the new one than any previous one.. also with the 160 front tyre with the 240 back tyre it is a good combination for handling compared to say a 240 back and a 140 or 120 front, the bigger the difference in width between front and back will effect the cornerability of a bike.. and finally the new m8 motor is in my opinion better than the twin cam or evolution...

Serious!!! Better then the twin cam? Big call
By a lot of accounts so far it’s been a dud, guess time will tell. Lol

Thought I might jump in on this thread!

Dealer gave me a Loan Bike whilst mine being serviced, I have a Breakout[2017], the choice of loan was a 2018 Breakout or Fatboy.

Having ridden the new Breakout model [which didn't impress me.] I chose the Fatty for something different!

Now I'm 6ft and used to my bike....the Fatty had mini apes and floor boards.....Reminded me of the first bike my dad purchased for me [Honda Mini Bike] when is was 8!

Look, it has the get up and go...the Fatty that is! [Mind you the mini bike went hard as well!] But I just didn't feel comfortable, and that could be a Breakout thing!

I'm sure many before have suggested a test ride...and I suggest the same!

As much as what any input from fellow riders suggest...its your coin, your arse and you want to be happy with your purchase!

    Cheers

"Very interesting", as old Shultz said.
Am an old cunt so nothing anyone says, writes,  offends me or upsets my line of thought.
Must say, for one cannot take a new Harley Davidson for a test ride, as one of those that will love what ever is new, and justify with upgrade sus, exhaust, bars, and all other jazz.
Which is why I cannot test ride new anymore, as sell Mrs and Dogs to get.
My own opinion is Muzza, you, or Mrs.Muzza likes, after riding, jump in, sounds like you can afford it.
Must say say I loved my 2006 Fatboy, although spent squillions on her, but she was a good fun.

Add another one to loving how the new Fatboys look. I saw one when I took the Breskout in for a service and thought ‘Fuck me, I would consider trading mine in for that bad boy’. I’ve no idea how they handle but I’m a newbie, so it’s all arse puckering fun to twist the throttle on ANY HD :-)

    Thank you Baloffski.
I have been avoiding this thread because of how the conversation got hijacked and became about warranties etc, and not about the intentions I had, nor the advice that I sought.
However, I have done a lot of research on as many forums as I could and decided that while I absolutely love the way it rides and the way it looks, and the fact that with the low seat I am flat footed, I’m going to wait until Rev 2.0 or 3.0 is released so that the few critical “flaws” that current owners are uncovering are ironed out. It’s a lot of money to shell out, and the 2012 Lo runs like a dream with absolutely no issues since new. My 2016 Lo is the same now, and knowing my luck, I’ll probably end up joining that gang of few with costly issues.

On another note, I really do appreciate all of the HONEST, CONSTRUCTIVE feedback almost everyone on this forum provides, thanks guys!

Bought the exact bike your looking at...really happy with it...heaps of low down grunt, only a stage 1 upgrade with Freedom pipes so far, but will probably finish with a cam in the future, any more power would be pointless...cornering is not a problem as long you are prepare to throw her down into corners, let her know who is in control...beautiful smooth ride..comfortable...Looks great, always getting heaps of positive comments from all ages of onlookers every time I take her out...comfortable on long rides...There is always going to be negatives, but the positives are well in front...I think HD is onto a winner with this one.

Has anyone noticed the “hole” in behind the headlight when you sit on the bike
I mean no cover plate like on traditional Fatties . Cannot believe it
Pay all that $ and see into the rear of the headlight
Plus still a single disc up front ( more power but didn’t upgrade the brakes ?????)
    Cheers

I bought my Fatboy 3 months ago ... just short of 5000k's, I have the Arnott Air rear suspension. ... Mmmm I'm thinking that the standard suspension may have been just a tad better? ... If you do press the button on a Black FB .... I'm sure you won't be disappointing.
To be honest ... opinions are neither here nor there!
Just go with the one that attracts you most! If you purchase by Jury vote and it's not the one you had your eye on, you are not going to be content no mater how good it is?

I got a lot of neg about my choice!  ..
They said: Why would you want a Fat Boy.

My answer:  Why did you marry a Fat Girl?   .... End of conversation!

Muzz people with Twinkies will poo poo the M8 and say they rode one and didn't like it all day long.
Then they wonder why HD is not selling bikes
The people who own M8's will say buy one they go great they're awesome.
I was an Evo guy right EVo uber alles right and I sold one to buy an M8 because I had 2 and then sold the other Evo because the M8 is so good dagnabit .
Just go test ride and yea buy in 19 or get a discounted 18 .
The Softails don't sump or transfer so do what ever you want.

Anyone have an opinion on how the hell you'd keep a new FBs wheels in good nick? They're the same finish as HD fork legs by the look of it. Any Tourer rider who puts a few Kms on knows how that turns out.
