    G'day Gents,
Have a nicely customised (Stage  4, Fat 50's, you got the idea) Street Bob which I've had for just over 10 years.
Still like riding the bike and enjoy the "rough" shaking of the rubber mounted dyna.
Yesterday I happened to come past my local Harley store and saw the new line up of 2018 softails.
Well, didn't take long to organise a test ride on the new 2018 Fat Bob.

Riding impression: My Dyna and the Fat Bob are worlds apart. Fat Bob is everything Dyna isn't and vice versa. Nimble, proper suspension and brakes. You feel much more in control sitting in the Fat Bob. My Dyna is just as fast, but the suspension and brakes compared to Fat Bob are simply agricultural. However Fat Bob lost some of it's "Harley raw character".

I've been offered a good trade in deal, but I am not sure whether I can let my Dyna go.
Would love to hear from anyone who might have recently traded Dyna or a new Fat Bob or any other 2018 Softail.

    cheers

I guess everyones spent the long weekend scooting around the country on their Fatbobs or whatever. Probably too buggered to reply after a big weekend.

Me, I'm at work, the only one listening except the crickets, but I dunno anything about the new Fatbobs.......

I know like the wheels on your Dyna.

    Roo.

    Mate,
I own a 2015 Fat Bob. I looked forward to the prospect of a new version of it, but can’t bring myself to appreciate the new ones looks. Doesn’t look right - the head light, smaller tank and chopped rear. Should have kept the originals looks imo. The only thing I did like was the riding position, with the forwards slightly back compared to mine.

I took a Stage II 114 Fat Bob for a good test ride. Yep, suspension, brakes, engine, blah blah blah all better. Handles better and the 114 was nuts. No question (though the smaller tank was a marketing decision).

But fark me, all I thought was if I wanted all this, I’d get a Diavel or go back to sports bikes or maybe a Trumpet Speed Triple. It has lost ‘soul’? Or something. I got off it thinking ‘yeah, great bike’ but I wouldn’t give up my Dyna for it. It didn’t give me the smile. As such I will keep working on my bikes shortcomings. The new Fat Bob or broader softail range has nothing in it for me. In the next few years, I will see what HD has in store with interest but I’m satisfied with ‘yesterday’s tech’ with my Dyna.

In deals - HD has plenty of them atm as they aren’t reaching sales targets. I had the dealer principal call me asking if I want a test ride. He called every customer to drum up interest. They even offered $1000’s more to upgrade the new bike and give a better trade number. The deals are there as HD are looking for business. I don’t see that changing. That will entice plenty but not me (yet).

    My 2c....

Hands down best bike iv ever ridden. Belongs to my wife, absolutely destroys my 17 Fatboy in a straight line or around corners. They're not a long distance bike but we have no dramas doing 3-4 hours on it. Around town they handle just as well as the super bikes we use to own, front suspension is a bit soft but thicker oil fixs that.
The old Dynas and softails have nothing on these bikes

    thanks for you responses Gents.
Paz141 - your Mrs is one lucky girl!
I've been on the fence contemplating the trade, but seeing some really positive reviews coupled with my own experience makes the decision little easier to make.
I see that you have V&H big radius and air cleaner installed? Did you also go with the super tuner?
What fender eliminator did you get for her?
    Any other planned mods?
