One of my bucket list goals is to ride around Tassie. Has anyone done this recently ,and can supply some thoughts on the best way to organise such a trip, and the best time of year to do it.. A few of us always chew over the idea on our local runs (Graz), but never take it any further, so, it would be good to put up a date in the future, and see how many would be interested in this type of ride. I would anticipate it would be a 7-10 day trip, and ideally ,ship over your own bike and gear. Interested in all thoughts. Cheers, Wingers.

Definitely make it ten days and that wont be enough.  We stayed in B&B's most of the way around. Cheaper than hotels but only really for smaller groups most of them. We did it in late February and had one day of rain but snow two days before we got there. Roads are awesome and in very good nick everywhere we went. Dont play up too much(like we did) on the way over because the ferry gets in about 5am and dumps you ashore in the dark. It is a bloody awesome spot for a spin and would be keen to do it again too.

Probably after the school holidays end from late January till early/mid April is about the best time.

Also interested but would depend on work and when it was proposed - may have to do it in place of one of the other rides (Edenhope or The Snowys) to get some certainty about the weather.  Just a suggestion.

I would drop a Snowy Run for a year so we could do Tassie instead . Maybe Jan '20 ?

I'd be interested, love riding Tassie.
Generally January to April is the time to visit (February/March is about best).

I’ve got a copy of a recent dice run through Tassie earlier this year, with accommodation and stop overs which looks interesting. I’ll put up an intinerary for you guys to comment on.It would mean shortening The Snowy Run by a day to get to Port Melbourne in time to catch the Spirit of Tasmania . The whole ride would be 2 weeks, give or take a day.I’m keen for 2019. Stay tuned.

One on my bucket list too Wingers. Keen as here, on the proviso I can sort out a tourer for the trip before then. A "maybe" from me for now.

I’ll be doing the Snowy Run only. If I do Tassie it will be with a pre organised trip I can jump on. Feb. is too close to the Snowy trip, and I cannot get the time to do back to back, unfortunately.

Map of Tassie, is always good to have in hand. Beautiful country and people are so cool. One time working over there for a spell, in the North West,  the early 90"s you could buy a house for like under 10K. Serious, how things change.Would have moved there long time ago, but weather shied me.Roads are excellent, for riding, as is scenery. One of the best states to ride in.

I'm new here and from Hobart. If you are coming down I can fix you up with local knowledge on rides (and watering holes) in the south of the island, East Coast, Midlands etc. Not much good North/North West. Would be happy to blast off on a few day rides etc. As most have stated Dec-April is the best time...
