Coming up to 40 years of riding. Had 2 nasty crashes, first one I will put my hand up, my fault as I was enjoying the ride and had a brain fart and didn't see the car stop in front of me, straight over the roof and landed in front of it. Nothing broken but felt like I had been hit by a truck for a couple of weeks. Second, was riding pillon with younger brother after a few to many brews when he decided to take a short cut through a gap between the cement wall on the freeway reserved for emergency vehicles, one almighty highside resulting in a broken leg.
Have lost count of the number of near misses from drivers doing stupid things but have to agree, treat every road user as an iced up lunatic out to kill you and stay alert.
Example a few weeks ago on the way to work. Approached traffic lights that just turned green but something didn't feel right so I stopped. Just then a car ran straight through a red, had I continued it would have been ugly. Even though you couldn't see the car until it was on the intersection I just had kind of sixth sense that something wasn't right.

I'm not feeling he was doing the speed limit either....so the chances of slowing/stopping are pretty much zero.  I cannot believe he thought that the car would stop for him...lol...  Yah gotta get into the mindset that EVERY other driver is out to kill you!

A very large squeeze of the left lever when you see a possible meeting of metal will reduce the likelihood of such occurrences, having said that I do have physical impediments that get worse with each year cause you can't out guess them all.

I would have thought squeezing the brake might be better than squeezing the clutch.

Looks like a good bit of gear Bloo, should pack flat, looks like laser cut stainless, would definitely fit in saddlebags. Better than wrapping lamb chops in foil and wiring them to the exhaust.

Blindly reached for a CD (remember them, from when you didn't have to rent your ad free music?) to take down under the house and play while I was feeding the dog pack. The first notes of the slide guitar oozing out brought back a lot of memories, playing it out over the valley after midnight at Obi, volume up at 11, filling the dark with haunting slide guitar or the strange monologue, nearest neighbours a kilometre away.
Memories of watching the strange movie that it was the sound track for, so from 1984, the peepshow scene from Paris, Texas. See the movie, it will haunt you.

I can relate to that Bloo, something similar was the reason I was blasting the music out over the valley after midnight at Obi in 1990.
Thanks for the tip about Fat City, never saw it but after watching some scenes on YouTube I will.
I do like that Kriss Kristofferson song that starts it.

Nice find BOnes. Is it heresy to say here that the Indian 111 is a nice motor to ride?
I do love what appears to be a sponsorship acknowledgement on the streamliner,  JD Bottles and Throttles! Brought some memories back, I used to love riding pissed. Don't do it now, was a lot younger then. I thought the only thing better was riding with 50 mikes of acid running round in the skull. 1/4 of a tab. Younger people look at me very strangely when I mention that.
