Anyone running shorter indicator brackets on the rear?
I read Dyna ones are shorter, and a direct replacement, including the little locator piece to stop rotation ?

Other than changing indicators completely, what have others done (aside from cutting the stock XL ones)?
Dont want to change the stock ones out, but wouldn't mind them closer to the fender....

    Thanks
    Chris

...wondering if this HD narrow mount kit would fit directly?

I had to buy a rear indicator standoff for my 2013 Dyna and it should have been part number 68480-02 but the dealer supplied me with 69438-06 which looked to be half the length of the stock item , both fitted into the indicator recess and the frame the same.
I had a quick look at part numbers here and the 08 XL883 (not sure if that's the same bike as yours) has the same part number standoff as my Dyna (FXDBA)
The standoff was about $25 from the Harley dealer.
I would guess that the standoffs are fairly universal but you would need to get the bolt length right as too short a bolt could possibly not engage in the indicator properly and strip threads and too long and it  won't tighten properly , but i am no expert and not a bike mechanic.
I doubt you would need to change the indicators.

I'm also told that Breakout arms have been used, with some modification to fasteners to suit...so this might work also...

I used some PVC pipe for mine. Threw away the HD reversed mounting bolts, bought some shorter standard bolts and went from there. All up cost less than ten bucks and hasn't budged or caused a problem in a year and a half.
