They are a striking color, I just added a Suzuki V-Strom 650 to the fleet. Work is moving further away so I have to commute through the city now.

So I added the V-Strom so I don't have to run the bigger bikes into the ground commuting.

Bloody good score, $10K Brand new ride away with 12 months rego.

I've owned this bike since new. It's a 1994 Honda VT1100C Shadow, with just over 133,000 K's on it. Luv it.

    They’re a great bike
I really liked the ACE edition Honda  did
Have you had to do anything major to the Shadow in the 133 Kms you’ve had it ?

Well............ back in 2005 I rode up to Airlie Beach for a friends wedding. On the way back, just outside Goondiwindi, I clipped a kangaroo! Broke my left big toe, tore off the gear lever and smashed the gear box. Soooo lucky not to have come off. Mileage was around 80,000K at the time.

Other than that the Shadow has been a dream to own. Rock solid.

That would a been a interesting Insurance Claim

If no insurance then an expensive one for you perhaps .

At least you don't have to replace chains / sprockets LOL

    Kato,
No insurance claim, just paid for repairs. The repair cost (just checked the receipt) was $1,296.00. Joys of Jap bikes I guess.

    Hilly,
The 1100 is quite spritely, strong acceleration and can be thrown into turns with ease. Being only 245 kg it's easy to handle. Only complaint I have about the Shadow is the brakes. The single disk (front) and drum(rear) really are not up to scratch; especially the drum, which has no feel.

I like all the Japanese Cruisers from the 80's and 90's, you get a lot of bike for the money, they were all beautifully engineered and put together, sometimes they didn't get the styling right, ie the Virago, but what the Virago lacks in the styling department it makes up for in useability, so I've got an Virago 1100, an Intruder 1400, and this Drop Dead Gorgeous Honda Shadow Aero 1100 in the shed, all up probably worth as much as a second hand Sportster,

I always liked the look of the Honda VT1100's, so after reseaching them to death as I do when I get hooked,  I bought this '98 Aero, the Aero is just one of the models, I think there's an Ace (American Classic Edition) and a Classic,

Great styling, nice to look at, I love the 2 int 1 exhaust , the running boards and the speedo is in the headlight just like all the early Honda's were, and it's shaft drive, fuck I love shafts,

I think Honda did a pretty good job,

That is one smoking hot Shadow. If I had known that the Ace version was coming out in 1995, I would have held off buying the 1100C. C'est la vie.
Honda really nailed the design with the ACE.

i agree the ACE American Classic Edition was a GREAT bike ( and that's  coming from a 100% HD background)

Buggered if i know why they ceased making them actually

The Pig is finished, after 6 weeks and $6K, and a lot of swearing in the man cave, it lives.

Getting her run in now in preparation for a lap of Aus by dirt roads
